I have now returned to the Channel Islands after the "flying visit" on Saturday to see the Gate/Folkestone game and would like to pass on some observations. This was the first game of the season for me, I saw I think it was the current managers first game last season and it was an unremarkable 0-0 draw. Anyway having lived through the exitement of CK's reign and seen many great games including the fantastic days at Burton and Redditch and lived the dream that was Conference football at H.P. Ithought the game on Staurday was a credit to both teams in those conditions, Margate had more quality undoubtedly and D.H. impressed all prolific scorers need to be selfish and he has that quality. Jay was for me the M.O.T.M, tireless worker and combative. I thought the large Folkestone contingent were a credit to their team, this is how a local derby should be. I felt there a great feeling of optomism in the bar before hand and around the ground, summing up all positive, lets hope the endless pursuit of the new ground can become a reality, we must not fall behind the ambitions of Maidstone, Dartford and others or we will be left behind. Onwards and upwards. I look forward to my next game clinching promotion.
