New Recruit

1)Wheres Ian Pullman? Is he coming to us in the new year(soon)as was mentioned recently? Havent seen him down for the last few games at Chatham at all.Are we still awaiting his registration?

2) Could this other(or maybe it was Pullman) striker going to sign(the one from Ryman Division one south). If not Pullman, could it be out-of-favour Jimmy Dryden from Dover. Would he be a good choice if he was indeed being sought after for the SECOND time?

3) Walid Matata at Ashford. He has turned down the chance to play for Dover so is he being loyal to Ashford or waiting for another better offer elsewhere? Could it be he? Could it be here?

Would/could ANY of them improve things for us?

Your thoughts on the above please.Or any info on each or all of the above!

I have a feeling-and certainly hope-that RT has set his sights upon signing better players than these.

RT has always said that he will only sign players who will improve the quality.

If he was sniffing around Watts and Elder that would follow.

I'm not so sure the two/three you mention Cookie are in quite the same class.

Just trying to find out MM,& am just putting it up for debate & for possible information that some may have coming our way.

I too would prefer a more classier recruit, someone with a bigger name around the footballing circles, someone tried & tested in higher grades. But we have to think about the budget.I really don't think theres much in the pot,if any at all, therefore any of these three,or even a.n.other from that particular league,at prices we could afford would be the way to go. At least they are in the "best in their league" bracket. We need another striker still thats for sure, not just as a replacement for Danny but to work alongside him & Pinns.

Very difficult one this, as we all want to see a class act signed, but how can you replace Danny or Pinns;and a quality player is hardly going to be a 'benchwarmer'.

I guess we all fear Danny/JP getting injured/suspended.

With just one game a week for most of rest of season, tiredness should not be a factor now .

Does RT try and sign real quality,or does he go for an up and coming player.

In Yiga and if fit-Bagley-we possibly already have up and coming strikers/benchwarmers.

Don't envy RT trying to handle this one

Never a suggestion of replacing our two main stars up front.Lets face it Abbot isn't doing too good at the moment so maybe a spot IN the side alongside those two would be available. If Abbot does get back some form then why not use him & the new man in rotation or if one isn't on song use the other as a replacement in the games. At least it would give us another string to our bow with whichever takes to the field as the replacement. At this time we dont really have a replacement striker do we?

Am sure that whoever signs,if any actually do, they will be briefed & made to understand the situation as it is & join us as a TEAM MEMBER going for gold rather than an individual seeking personal glory.

Travelling round the forums tonight I see there are "rumours" flying about that both Matata & Dryden may be returning to Folkestone now that the club have some much needed cash inflow again. We shall see!

Not sure that Ian is the right sort of recruit we need. We really need someone to be able to slot into the front line and produce the goods on a regular basis. At the moment that berth is going to Paull Abbott and his performances are too erratic. I fear that Pullman will be no better.

Did any one notice Bagley out on the pitch on Saturday. Hopefully, he has overcome his injury and after a few reserve games we have our 'third' striker.

As for Paull remember he plays on the right where the only cover we have is young Jamie Stellion. Now, that is a player I would like to see on the bench.

In Dan Dolton we also have a player capable of playing as the 'third' striker if required. In my opinion he will end up as a striker in the Danny Hockton mold if handled properly and given the correct handling.

Kenny Pratt is also another promising player and, next season he will be challanging for a place on the bench.

So take heart the requirement for a new striker is well catered for at the moment and, I have every confidence in Dan Dolton, Ken Bagley, Jamie Stellion and Kenny Pratt plus Ian Pullman to fill in this season as and if required.

Matata would be a good choice if we were looking for a pacey option, but I don't see him as a replacement for Pinns or Danny. He as said "no" to Dover so Folkestone would be my bet.

Dryden would be potentially the best bet as cover - particularly for Danny. (I think we have cover for Pinns in Jay or even Dolton). BUT, post knee injury is Jimmy Dryden the same player we allegedly came close to signing before Dover stepped in? There does seem to be some "personality" issues at Dover (which isn't to say that Robin and Mike wouldn't do a good job with JD.

My bet on Brendan Cass is that he is content at Dartford; who look to be heading in the right direction in a shiney new stadium.

Oh that's me discounting the 3 obvious ones then!

As Joseba says, i'm not too concerned here as there are alternatives in : Stellon,Dolton,Pratt,Pulman and above all bagley if close to fitness again.

Its the midfield which is priority,(and thats ok at moment as long as we don't miss SM too much).

As long as we keep creating enough chances,'anyone will score'.

Anyway, Pinns and DH may stay injury/suspension free .

Whatever happens, imo, we must not play Jay out of his best midfield position-keep your players in their most effective positions throughout

Tend to agree with MM midfield is the priority. When ever I've watch the gate this season we always play better when the midfield get hold of the ball and dictates the play. No sticker including Danny can make all there own chances. When JJ and Abbott are playing well and supply balls in from the flanks we look dangarous. But for them to do that we need two good holding plays like Jay and SM who are both willing to dig deep and work back. Only my view for what its worth.
