Under 18s Kent FA Cup

A crowd of 8 turned out to watch Margates u18s progress to the next round of the Kent FA Cup to meet West Wickham next week in the same Cup (away). Given the go-ahead to play on Hartsdown pitch we watched a one sided game run out. It took five minutes for Margate to open the scoring, by half time it was 9 - 0. Wigmore tried to make a game of it but most of the game was played in their half. Second half saw 3 changes and a Margate goal with-in two minutes was more of the same. Two more were put away before Wigmore rallied and played in Margates half, mostly due to every Margate player wanting to get onto the score sheet. It was one of these moments that gave the battling Wigmore a chance and with only the keeper to beat was taken down by Gates keeper, luck for just a yellow a well taken kick gave Wigmore something to cheer. Despite a final score of 14 - 1 Wigmore kept their heads up, managed a joke or two and tried to play football. Nice bunch of lads who were out classed.

Surprised the pitch was fit for ANY football.Still Ray has a couple of weeks to get it ready again I suppose.Incidentally having mentioned Ray I think he did magnificentally to get the pitch ready for yesterday as he had worked tirelessly in the last week & half into getting it ready.Overnight downpours couldn't have helped matters.I imagined him yesterday morning soaking up all that rain with his high powered squeegy roller.

Getting back to the under 18s result. A good result no matter what the opposition.

You are right, I was greatly surprised on two counts, that the u18s were allowed to play on it and how good it looked after yesterdays game. I can confirm that there is some work needed now, but with a two week rest it should be ok. Usual problem everywhere, not enough good pitches to go round. Many thanks to Ray, who was out there as soon as the final whistle blew.

I see reserves are at home on saturday to herne bay-should be a good one.

Ray only has a few days to get pitch ready then.

With injuries starting to mount up, we may need to see our reserves and fringe players getting match fit.

Any one know how Nick Bagley is progressing -out for how long ?
