Enfield FC v Enfield Town FC

Squadron Leader

Recommended Posts

Dissapointing to say the least.Town were looking comfortable, even on the poor surface.I'm sure we would have gone on to win easily.EFC were there for the taking today and we were playing well enough to capitalise.I bet they will make it harder for us in the re-arranged game.

Was any pressure exerted on the ref to stop the game at half time, rather than start the second half and see how it went?

Also,it would have been nice to see a groundsman (or even someone with a fork).

Glad that EFC very quickly found a tannoy announcer to declare the game off,but couldn't muster an announcer to read out the team line-ups or give out information before the game.

Will EFC charge admission to get into the re-arranged game?(Will tickets for todays match be valid? At the very least it should be half price)Otherwise, its drinks all round for EFC.Escape from a losing game AND get a windfall from two derby match gates.

Finally. An unusual programme to keep us amused before the game.As well as the overload of adverts for restuarants and truckers cafes' (it seem they have a chairman who dines out a lot) we were treated to a big piece about how Diana Ross was arrested for drink driving in 2002. A full account of a first world war game of football in the trenches.A piece from Mr Hyatt about the demise of Southbury Rd (Loved the final line),AND someone posting a Enfield FC greatest ever team WITHOUT Noel Ashford in the line-up. Edged out by Brian Sparrow. It was the most entertaining prog i've read all season.

Ps..Well done to the Town players for there application and committment today.Spot on.

I was wondering how the gate is to be divided at the re-arranged game. Surely it should be split 50:50. Especially as the game was abandoned due to inadequate drainage! Not now a problem at Goldsdown Road.

As for the goal nets why couldn't Enfield get these sorted out before kick - off.

To the groundsman. You put the scaffold pole through the net!

Maybe Ware FC will charge EFC additional rent for the extra fixture after the damage to their pitch today.

Did anyone notice the little pile of earth the EFC keeper made on occasions to kick the ball off? Was that so the puddles did stop the balls takeoff?

I think we only played to half-time so the home team didn't have to repay the supporters. Remember when it went in our favour on occasions in the ESL?

Pay again? I'm sure we will have to! Share the gate? - I think I saw a flock of flying pigs flying over the Downs Bar and circled the whole of Brimmo.

Loved the goal - Bryan Hammatt cross to Ricci Crace to slide home.

I agree with the General we were on top and playing well. I think we would have played better if the weather was less yuk but maybe EFC would have too.

Well done Magonads for hitting the post again with a header!

EFC missed two good scoring chances when JJ made a double save with his feet and over the bar.

FFS don't you lot ever stop moaning? Game reached half time so Enfield FC get a Brucie bonus. Get over it and move on.
Perhaps EFC should lay on stretch limos for you all with a personal waiter, pay you all £10 for gracing their (shared ground) and even throw in a few lap dancers for good measure?
Now go back to your constituency and prepare for Ryman Division One North football..again!
Felic any nou tots... grin

ref was right to call the game off even though we were winning conditions were making the game a lottery i would rather play them on a level playing field so their will be no hard luck stories . we will struggle to catch hornchurch but the play offs are well in our grasp keep it going boys will get there.

Too damn right MFM (oo err!). They always whinge and moan about something...The Towines have their own dedicated whinge charter...Go back over all their threads in the past few years and I cannot recollect one defeat ever being taken with any degree of magnanamity. Apart from when we whooped their butts at Brimsdown a few years back!!!

Hi Moaning Townies!

Good entertaining derby game played in the conditions what i think derby games should be played in, plenty of crunching sliding tackles.

I did find it very strange that the ref called it off within seconds of leaving the pitch, was pressure put on him from certain people i mean 0-1 down not a good result, get to keep all gate receipts and dont have to repay supporters on way out as we've played 1st half good result (only joking before an online brawl breaksout)

There wasn't much difference in the playing surface from 40 mins to 46 mins when it was called off so why not call it off at 40 mins.I would guess that it was called off due to the safety of the players as is the case normally which you have to respect but i find it hard to believe that the ref could play the last 5-10 mins of the 1st half without the players safety in mind.

He must have known he would not play the 2nd half judging by the fact there were a few occasions were bookings should have bben shown but never came with this in mind and the fact of supporters repayments i think he was glad to get to half time without any serious problems.

Still at least we'll have the (s)lush pitch of great wakering to look forward to on tues nite.

Was any pressure exerted on the Ref ? (Very doubtful in those conditions he wouldnt need much persuading)
It would have been nice to see a groundsman forking the pitch ? Yes ,I saw one man doing his best but if a dozen or so had been It wouldnt have made any difference.
TANNOY , (yes Perhaps the teams should have been read out but its just the same at some other clubs we go to).
Rearranged game ,(I'm sure they'll be good enough to let us know what their procedure is in due course )Half price seems fair ,nothing would be better).
Programme,( Compared to some Iv'e seen It wasn't that bad (Remember Ilfords and two or three others like it,Interesting piece about the first world war .I enjoyed reading it And dont forget many young men died so people like you live in a free society .
ADVERTS At least they have people still affilliated to them to put adverts in . Including the Downs Bar ! And dont forget Mr Hyatt is a very old man well in his 80s I guess, How brave of you to have a pop at him) Frank Bailey's greatest E's Team was his own personal choice so I dont see how his should have to be to your liking , By the way I know Frank and his Son and it was nice to chat to them yesterday .In fact it was nice to see several old faces from a few years back . Looking forward to the rearranged match.

RE the Tannoy . The roving Mic is broken and The Board and committee were busy with dealing with a larger than usual crowd .The Tannoy system Itself is in the boardroom and its not a good location to have it when the boardroom is full of guests. It can be operated from there though. Rob usually does the Tannoy but he had to man the other turnstile due to the numbers coming in. Thanks for coming along Just a pity about the weather.

Dear me!Out Of Towner,i think you've lost the plot old boy.I was mearly making some observations.Your response,if i may say so, was somewhat partonising and childish.Probably as a result of you mis interpreting nearly every point i made yesterday in my post.

Look, If we had been at any other ground and the game was called off.Hornchurch,Ilford,Abbey...whoever,i would have asked those same questions. Was any pressure exerted on the ref to either play the full first 45,or to call it off? Why wasn't the groundman attending the pitch? Why was there no tannoy announcments? I didn't just ask those questions because it was EFC.

May i suggest you start supporting EFC more regulary?(Thats if you don't already?).You seem very keen on criticising and insulting your fellow (cough) Town supporters, but take great offence when anyone questions something to do with EFC.

For goodness' sake chaps! I rather agree with Coup - a football match in late December was abandoned due to weather conditions: it happens! Several League and Premiership matches were also abandoned!

It might just be due to the weather - no conspiracy, no Russians or polonium 210 involved, no pressure on the ref, just loads of water falling out of the sky!

As the man says, let's just get over it and look forward to the next game!

There we go!Thanks Syrup and Ponders Ender for clarifying the situation.

Strange how our own fans took offense when relevant questions were asked by a few of us.Where as EFC folk answered them calmly and without any fuss.

Any ideas when the re arranged game may be? Will it be held over to the end of the season?
