A Rule In Football i Will Never Understand ??

So here it is.....

A Margate player (Pat Sappleton) gets floored by a Ramsgate player, Pat has to leave the field of play due to injury (he was off a good 4 mins), the offender of the free kick stays on the field. In this 4 mins Ramsgate win a free kick, the ball is played nto the box and guess who wins the header for a half chance for Ramsgate....the offender of the free kick !

So my soloution is the offender (Ramsgate player) should also leave the field for the same amount of time it takes for Pat to recieve treatment.

I know this goes on in EVERY game and iam not just feeling bitter that we didnt get all three points....DISCUSS !

Total agreement with the silliness of the rule. However, rather that make it more complicated, what about the original idea of treating the player, and if he's OK to continue, then just let him! No need for anyone to go off, no need for that annoying distraction of the ref having to remember to recall the player from the touch line (which often doesn't happen quick enough, resulting in the crowd and other players getting agitated!). And while we're at it, I remember seeing a bloke called Alex Dawson playing for Preston NE in the 1960s/70s shoulder-charging goalkeepers into the net (with the ball) and goals were allowed - another rule we could get rid of to bring back some fun......although Danny H is too polite to do that!

Far too sensible for the Blatter and his cohorts to get their heads around. For it was FIFA who introduced said law.
Good call though and makes sense, on the other hand stopping the watch, adding injury time and letting the injured party just carry on, seemed to have worked well for 100+ years, so why change it?

Pat had to go off, because he was bleeding and had to change his shirt. But I did think that they left us with 10 men for a long time before letting him back on, and we were at a disadvantage during that time, as Ramsgate were on the attack, and we were short in defence.

If the fault was with us, the free kick should have been the remedy, not the absence of a key player for a protracted amount of time.

Oh no it's not!

I've seen it happen at Hartsdown in the 50's and 60's. I understood the rule was something like if the keeper had gathered the ball and had both feet on the ground, he was fair game for a legal shoulder charge, the same as outfield players.

Yes I was at the game. Dan will get a chance soon, He's just come back from sickness and wants to gat a game in. Keeps going to play for reserves and the games get called off. Trouble is he needs the Match fitness but cant get games in. He's just getting his head down and working really hard and waiting for his chance.

Good thing is he wants to stay and play for Margate and I think the way his head is now he won't let anyone down.

He is a totally diferent person since getting this chance m8. He really wants a crack at this and Trotty is the kind of Manager who won't settle for anything less than 100% but also recognises hard graft and commitment. Dan loves Margate FC and at present won't settle on playing for second best if he is'nt wanted after all that then who knows were he will end up.
