East Thurrock 0 Billericay Town 4

Today was one of those days where, given the conditions, a win, whatever the performance, is a good result. And that is what the lads gave us. A strong, no mucking about, get into them performance. It wasn't pretty but 4 nil is a blinding result.

First goal was a lob shot from Jamie Dormer (my MOM). It looked as if it was just a hopeful punt but the flight of the ball died just at the right time to end up in the net.

The second - a cracking own goal from the ET no.6 after Whelpdale had nooded the ball back from the corner.

The third a great poachers goalfrom Joe Flack. Blewitt's shot being saved and then Flack, Keeper and two defenders all challenged each other for the ball to fall to Flack and a simple punt into an open net.

The fourth was a shot outside the penalty area from Rikki Burbridge to find the bottom far corner of the net.

The football wasn't pretty and the win was described as a grafting win and was well deserved.

well done to the lads

A great result and i thought a good performance today. Some good goals, and some decent play. We did more than enough to beat a fairly poor side today.

Ref had a shcoker, but who cares now.

All the teams above us except Hampton dropped points, so a really excellent day all round, and i think were only 6 points off top spot. A very good December so far. Roll on Saturday

Yep, Saturday should be a good game. I take it that Chelmsford are bringing about ten people because

a) They don't wish to pay our club any money

B) They are frightened about the "antics" of some of our supporters

c) No one can spare the room in the camper van for the cardboard cut outs.

Very pleased with the result today - games against big physical teams on poor pitches are where we've come unstuck on a couple of occasions this season. All the players had to work hard for this one, and a few of them looked out on their feet by the end which is good to see.

We adjusted our game, didn't try to play too much football in our own half and got the ball forward quickly but we did put a few good moves together in and around the penalty area. The midfield looks strong at the moment, and with Burbs and Flack forming a good understanding up front we were deserved winners.

we even looked like we had plenty left in the tank too.

I thought Burbridge had a blinder but would agree that Dormer was MOTM. The pitch was a disgrace and not fit for our division.

I cant think of any of our lads that had a bad game. Heffer and Blewitt are looking better and better each game.

Well done lads, lets just hope the over confidence doesnt creep back for saturdays game.

I thought it was an excellent win. The East Thurrock team looked the worst I have ever seen it and maybe it's not an accident that they have allowed their pitch to resemble the proverbial ploughed field.

It was clear it wasn't going to be pretty but we dug in really well and in the end our quality did show through. We could have won by more. Agree that Dorms was MOTM but surprised that no one has observed that Billy has now kept four clean sheets out of five since his return to the team.

It's really good news for the league that everything is so tight, every game counts and we are now only six points off the top!!

Hopefully we'll get a great game and a bumper crowd on Saturday.
