Thought the lads tried very hard today (particularly Clarke)but always look likely to concede goals. One or two city players dwelt on the ball too long for my liking and gave it away too easily.

 

On balance I think city deserved at least a draw.

 

CP crowd was very subdued - too many hangovers?

Certainly did deserve a draw - not sure how the linesman and referee missed the blatant handball in the last couple of minutes. Definite pen! And if Benyon had scored when clean through it might have been different. Plenty of heart and battle and scrapped but overall short on quality. Enjoyable game though.

Had the look of men against boys to me. We may have played the better football but today we saw the benefits of full-time training, they being stronger, faster and knowing exactly where each other was at any time. Still could have won though and not a bad performance. Bring on the Grecians!

[Sensible]

The Ref didn't help. Their player took Hakim out with a shocking 2 footed tackle which definitely deserved a red card. As a result, we were without one of our best attacking players for nearly all of the second half.

[Boney Maroney]

We shouldn't kid ourselves here. Our performance was a huge improvement on the Stortford game but if we are going to survive in this league, we have to stop shipping goals. All three goals were down to defensive errors and you just cannot allow someone like Morison a free header on goal, as happened with the third. Cracknell worked hard yesterday and Clarke had one of his best games of the season but I felt Stevenage, for the most part, were in the driving seat. They played well as a unit and every time they attacked, looked dangerous. I thought, overall, they deserved the win.

As far as we are concerned, I think it's fairly clear cut which areas need strengthening within the team and if we act on it when the transfer window opens, I'm convinced we'll be alright.
