Ramsgate 1-1 Margate

Ramsgate were quite happy to play Route One lob-it-and-hope football whereas Margate, as I heard Trotty say on Radio Kent, tried to 'play football'.

To be honest the uneven sandy pitch didn't help our passing style of play, but we looked good when this got going. Unfortunately we only really came to life once the Rams had equalised, and chances we had were off-target. But I think that from a neutral's view it was quite an entertaining game.

The facilities for away fans seemed non-existant, no-where to buy a drink or food, and agree that more than two toilets were needed considering the number in attendance (which according to the Ryman site was 1762).

Finally, Trotty mentioned on Radio Kent that he wants to win the league and that Ramsgate will have been pleased with the attendance as they like all clubs need the money, but added that on Saturday against Folkestone "we do need a big crowd, we need the crowd to be bigger".

Don`t go to watch Margate that often and on that performance I do not intend to make more of an effort in 07, how bad has the opposition been to allow Margate to get to the top. I did not see any real effort to play, just hit and hope to no one in a blue shirt, does not matter who the opposition is if you can play you play. 1-1, lucky.

Think I`ll stick to watching football with the reserves and under 18s where it`s free or a few quid.

Agree with the state of the ground, facilities were a disgrace, especially for the female supporters.

Happy New Year to all.

Well done Gate.

Maybe if i was there would feel different, but happy to get the point as you never know what will happen in derby games-an accident waiting to happen- but as M Fan says earlier-its 'out of the way' and now lets get back to business.

Was always happy to get a draw today, and as i keep on saying-draw the away games and win the home ones and we will be in the play-offs.

No trouble which was good, plenty of noise, mostly by the Margate fans in all honesty & a fair result.

there was some trouble cookie at the end of the game where about 50- 60 ramsgate fans were allowed to stand either side of the away fans leaving and punches were thrown by thier so called fans, fukin chavs, absolutley disgraceful and no police presence what a farce

All this "hype" on the forums, well from our forum anyway was designed to "help" them to continue to believe in themselves Alex. If anything I think the good luck wishes got them through this game more than putting any pressure on them. Long may we continue to wish them the best too because since we started these threads we have lost only ONE game & Drawn just TWO maybe THREE at home in the league & won 10 games(or thereabouts) both home & away, so all in all not a bad record is it! Can it just be co-incidence? Whether it is or not I think the stats merit a continuation of the thread don't you. Besides these players are seasoned campaigners & they should be used to pressure anyway local derbies included.

As for you "differentgame",dont judge the team on the one game that you managed to watch them perform in. Occasionally teams have bad days & despite getting a very important point today, today was one of those days. Watch them more reguarly & you will want to come back again & again. You'll see what we have seen AWAY from home. We just need it to sparkle at HOME now. Its annoying I know that they don't perform on a big stage but they will soon. Someone is going to feel the full force of this team in top gear soon & a big score will come about.Be there to witness it!

Yes I agree with you there Robert. As I mentioned to you today Danny Dolton is a decent player & probably the best of the bunch on the bench to do that. We certainly do need a couple more heads on the bench that CAN help sway things when required.

Cookie i am not arguing the good luck posts i am all for them, but i am saying all this talk of the Ramsgate game how big it is and that may have put pressure on the players to get a result.
