Commentary for Crawley

Solid enough performance, looked very steady at the back, with commanding performances from Hawkins, McCarthy and Opinel, with a lot of good work done by Long. He really does look the finished article as a box to box creative midfielder, we will be doing well if we can keep him for more than a year. He is surely destined for a much higher league than this.

Good to see the forwards causing problems all afternoon, without really getting in too many chances, but giving the Crawley defence a headache.

Does anyone know about Mark de Bolla - presumably fit again and has served his suspension - perhaps he had too much turkey yesterday.

Blimey. What's going on here? New design...

Anyway, it was alright, wasn't it? I can't say I have much to say about the game but did anyone hear the racist "song" by that lone skinhead near the toilets at the end?

There's always a bit of moaning from the casual fans, isn't there? When we played Woking these two people were chatting, and after 15 minutes or so one said "this is about as good as it gets" - I think there'd been one shot. At the end they agreed they wouldn't be back for a while.

Today, another two people complained as their goalie went to take a goal kick and all the players moved over to the right side of the pitch:

"Why on earth are they doing that for?"

"This is bloody kids' football."

Luke Moore was brilliant today, his off the ball movement is absolutely flawless, his dribbling was excellent, and he looked such a creative player! It was also good to see Charlie getting himself some chances, on another day, or when his confidence builds, he would have scored one or two of the four or five opportunities he had. As a mate pointed out to me, Hawkins looked much more assured with his passing, and he was playing it on the floor.

Lance's save in the second half was sheer class. We have a very talented, young squad, maybe inconsistent, but as they grow together (assuming we can keep them) then they'll lose the inconsistency as they gain experience!

The future's bright...
