MATCH UPATE: Chelmsford v Slough

Emma-STFC

Recommended Posts

Battled well until about the hour mark and then the legs ran out really. The result was never really in doubt as Chelmsford dominated throughout but Slough did have some chances through Miller, Roberts and Daly and started brightly in either half.

Well done to all the lads who took to the field today and gave their all.

Before anyone gets carried away over the result (particularly any Chelmsford fans reading), the team was:

Farrow, Braith, Mills, Daly, Roberts, Perrineau-Daley, Nsubugu, Wilkinson, Moleski, West, Miller

And this was the team that went to the home of the league favourites looking for points. New keeper in goal - hardly going to be a confidence-booster. Rav at right-back - when was the last time he started a match? Mark West, the 40 year old manager, forced to start because there's nobody else. And then Westy switches himself to right-back for the second half to make up the numbers there.

The team changes every week and just gets weaker and weaker. Nothing we can do about it except watch teams walk all over us despite some valiant efforts. And there was plenty of effort out there today along with some pretty desperate defending. It could have been 15-0 today, but does that even matter? We still gave the players applause at the end and they appreciated it.

And I still maintain that if being relegated is the worst thing to happen to Slough Town FC this season, I'll be a happy man.

Well said Matt. Course you don't wanna lose 5-0, but were up against a team of players who are to all intense and purposes last years conference Canvey Island team, who have a hefty budget compared to ours of £0!

It was always going to be difficult as we lost Dell and Terry Davies was on holiday, but it's the Ashford and Walton type games that will determine how the season goes.

PS: Someone shoot the Parrott to put him out of his mysery!!
