Kentish Town - a "community" club?

Recommended Posts

Wingman - Well I'm surprised by that statement and feel obliged to pass it onto the great one who won't be impressed. It was Boy George who said he would rather have a cup of tea but in our case it is seeing Lee Scott scoring a goal, we are actually considering implementing a sex ban on the players on Friday nights for the second half of the season as we head for the championship which will be on the agenda of our next Management meeting, any not conforming will be dropped from the team and that includes Lee.

How will you know if they have obeyed or not?? Will they all have to have to give their 'donations' just before the team is picked??? I suppose good boys will have a bigger donation <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

No chip on my shoulder. Just telling the facts as they are relayed to me (meant to say U16, not U15 in the original post, apologies for that). Still want to sue, Rhodes? Or would you prefer to apologise for trying to mislead all the other forum readers and lie your way out of the situation?

(For those who don't know, Kentish Town's youth teams play, or played, under the name of AFC Claremont).

Now, don't be shy, Rhodes. It's Christmas Eve and all those youngsters from the run down Camden Estates who have nothing to look forward to because your club have cruelly pulled the footballing rug from beneath their feet must surely prick your consience enough for you to pass comment on this severe matter. You can't keep running away from the problem that you are creating in Camden society.

Rhodes having downloaded the prospectus i am at a loss as to who wrote that pathetic outlook of football, it cannot be you as it is just one big contradiction! the first few paragraphs talk about unlocking talent and making players that will break onto the big stage and then readin furthur on it says things like "during training we will be underpinning things like shooting (into corners)" or "developing quickness" i must say if this was your idea of branding then i can see why Aki never let you near Haringey

I like the fact that tactical awareness. positional sense and skill are left out of the main components!!! Going to create a team of athletes that can't play football.....

3praise - These comments are typical of you and others who always try to knock us down at every opportunity when we are making giant strides in the Community and, in the case of this particular high profile project, Worldwide, Man Utd and Real Madrid style. You mention your lord and master again and yes 'Sugar' knew perfectly well that such a project would bring Worldwide recognition, attention and fame to Haringey, the exact thing he doesn't want to happen for some reason.

Talking [****!!****] again, clip Rods? How can it be "high profile" when none of us had heard of it before your post? Several clubs have set up or are setting up similar academies and there's nothing of worldwide interest in a minor Step 6 club jumping on the bandwagon. The Potters Bar Town academy is starting next season, do you want us to send the rejects from our trials your way?

I'd better be careful how I word this, in view of clip Rods' access to "high profile" solicitors

Reading that stuff about Kentish Town's involvement in a Worldwide project, it looks to me like an attempt by some African geezer to make money out of his countrymen in the Tottenham area by charging them to attend a "college" to learn how to be footballers! (well, at least how to get fit).

Sue me, clip (perhaps Aki might represent me?)

Spidermanor - Most impressive however are you sure that's not an imitation of our model, how long has your particular initiative with Harrow College been up and running. As I said if any other SSML Club than Kentish Town had set this groundbreaking project up it would have been the best thing since sliced bread however as it is us it's automatically a joke, this is what I don't quite understand.

What is a joke, clip Rods, is that you are claiming something to be unique to your club that clearly isn't. Apart from Ruilsip manor, Colney Heath have been running academy sides (and successful ones at that) for a number of years. Potters Bar Town (when in the SSML), Broxbourne Borough and London Colney have all been connected with the Protec academy in the past and I also believe that Biggleswade Town have an academy set up.

Just another case of you failing to do your research properly!

clip Rods, this is how it's done:

Potters Bar Town Football Club and Oaklands College are delighted to announce the launch of a new Football/Education programme commencing September 2007.

Aimed at school leavers, the course provides aspiring young players the opportunity to continue their academic studies whilst at the same time develop their football ability with the ultimate aim of breaking into the first team at Potters Bar Town. The 2-year programme, based around the BTEC Foundation Certificate, First Diploma and National Certificate/Diploma in Sport programmes, caters for students of varying academic ability.

Students who enrol on the course will have access to 9 hours per week top quality coaching along with the added attraction of playing competitive fixtures.

A taster day has been arranged for prospective new students/players on Wednesday 4 April 2007 at Potters Bar Town Football Club. The day starts at 2pm with football training/trials and is followed by an academic presentation by Oaklands College.

Peter Waller, Chairman of Potters Bar Town, is delighted that the football club has partnered with Oaklands College: “Potters Bar Town want to build on their reputation as a community driven football club and by coaching and educating young players this scheme can only strengthen our policy of looking for local players to represent their local club. We see this scheme as the ideal launch pad in our quest to place the club at the centre of the community”

Debra Hercules, Head of Skills, Sport and Beauty at Oaklands College is equally enthusiastic about the new partnership: “The college already delivers a number of successful sports academies and we are delighted to have forged a strong link with another of our local football clubs. This programme really presents youngsters with a wonderful opportunity and offers them the best of both worlds – a chance to develop their sporting skills whilst also gaining a recognised academic qualification.”

For further information and an application form to attend the taster day please telephone David Bass on 07950 399221

Strange that you have suddenly introduced this on the back of our innovative initiative, I'm not knocking yours and fair play to Potters Bar for trying to make a difference 'as a Community driven Club' however our Project is unique in that it taps into Africa and the untold riches of talent over there who are queuing up to become part of the Kentish Town brand. Our name is already all over countries such as Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria and Zambia like a rash and that's just the tip of the ice berg, speak to Jeff about it when you next see him who was shaking his head in disbelief when told about it last week, he's becoming our biggest fan.

I thought that the purpose of KTFC was to provide football and a future for the underpriviledged residents of Kentish Town? I'm sure that in the past you have likened yourselves to Yorkshire CCC, but that seems to have been forgotten.
