Kentish Town - a "community" club?

Recommended Posts

Rhodes, you go on long and hard about how Kentish Town look after the youngsters from the Camden estates, leading them away from lives of destitution, drink, drugs, rape, petty crime, etc., etc. You also talk about how you literally pick youngsters up from their cardboard boxes and offer them the chance to play football for your club and basically help to put a roof over their heads.

Imagine my surprise then, when my Harrow Youth League contact tells me that you have suddenly pulled your U11, U14 & U15 sides from the League, leaving all those youngsters with no football to play and, presumably, no quality of life either. And just before Christmas too!

How does this fit in with the community work ethos that you allege exists within the club?

Obviously, I'm sure you would have "come clean" to us about scrapping these youth sides in due course. You wouldn't try to sweep it under the carpet, would you? I mean, surely that's not the way an MOD employee's mind would think, is it?

I don't know from what unreliable source you got this from but it's absolute nonsense, we never played Under 11's or Under 14's teams in the Harrow Youth League this season although admitedly it was our intention to. As for the Under 15's they are going strong and are top of the division, as are our Under 10's, both teams are Coached by the great one who gives up his own valuable time on a Sunday to do so when he could be working. I suggest you get your facts right before making such serious allegations, I may even consider sueing after consulting with Gregg and Frank later.

Our game is definitely on tomorrow according to Hoddesdon Town so I'll try to get over there with the great one around 7.00 although we're supposed to be having a few drinks ourselves afterwards to celebrate being top of the league at Christmas. Will there definitely be a snog in it for me as I don't fancy coming all the way over from Hoddesdon just to play gooseberry with your new man or Potters Bar Town, you might be all mouth and no trousers for all I know.

5.1 The Committee noted recent team withdrawals ..........AFC Claremont U16

No chip on my shoulder. Just telling the facts as they are relayed to me (meant to say U16, not U15 in the original post, apologies for that). Still want to sue, Rhodes? Or would you prefer to apologise for trying to mislead all the other forum readers and lie your way out of the situation?

(For those who don't know, Kentish Town's youth teams play, or played, under the name of AFC Claremont).

Well perhaps but I was perfectly serious, watching Lee Scott's two goals this afternoon was far better than having sex so goodness knows how he felt scoring them to put him a mile clear in the golden boot stakes.

Well done, Rhodes, you certainly made people eat their words with that win! But you hve to overdo it as usual - Lee Scott may be miles ahead in the Kentish Town Club Golden Boot, but in Div 1 he's second to Stuart Reynolds, of Ampthill Town who's got two more!

Rhodes, isn't there a more important aspect of this thread that you're overlooking? I have taking the trouble of reprinting it for your benefit.
