How many ESL teams.......

Have a first team regular that came through from "their" club's youth ranks (EJA U16/18s).

 

Sadly I can't think of any at Bowers!!!

 

If none, then it raises the question why have a youth set up, given the expense of running one, not to mention the toll it takes on the pitch.

 

My view is that clubs SHOULD have a youth set-up but that it needs to be nurtured with the better players being "Fast Tracked" through to Firsts and Ressies. Some clubs do this but too many clubs don't!!!

 

I know Coachie will have a view on this....

 

Having lit the blue touch paper I will now retire to a safe distance!!!

Our famous one of late was Steve King...who then changed post codes. A few have come through via the youth set up, but a big jump from reserves to first team....

to be fair youth players go one of 2 ways. stop playing or move club. worth having a youth team but if they are any good they will go on and play a higher level.
