Ever had one of those nights?

Recommended Posts

With our first team match off tonight, I went to watch Broxbourne U18 v St Margaretsbury U18 and actually came away feeling quite sorry for St. Mugs.

They took the lead early on before Broxbourne equalised. They then missed a sitter when two forwards in the six yard box got in each other's way and one shot high over the bar in front of the empty net. It was still 1-1 on 43 mins but they went in at half-time 3-1 down and then conceded a fourth in the first minute of the second half!

Then they missed another sitter. A great shot hit the underside of the bar and came down to the centre forward three yards out with no-one near him, yet he managed to shoot against the goalkeeper's foot as he was lying on the ground having tried to save the first shot. A minute later Broxbourne went up the other end and made it 5-1. Then a St. Margaretsbury forward hit an excellent shot which came back off the inside of the post and went safe. Then their 'keeper damaged his ankle and, with all the subs used, they had to play the last 15 minutes with ten men and an outfield player in goal. They managed not to concede anymore goals but still lost a fairly even game 5-1.

Anybody else ever had "one of those games", either playing or supporting?

Yes, almost every other Haringey Borough first team game I went to when I was there, I can't remember the ball ever running for them once. I was just about to send out a search party by the way with Whipps Cross hospital being the first port of call.

Yes PBTFC, I beleive it was against Potters Bar a couple of seasons ago in the cup where you went down to 9 players and still beat us in extra time! Obviously massively against the run of play etc etc

Ah, yes, I remember it well. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> As I recall, Mr. Howard was somewhat "spurred on" to score the extra time winner.

My only yellow card that season was in that game as well.. i think his ankle was a little bit sore for a couple of weeks after that one!!

Nik Nak was outstanding (again) that night.

Did you think she might be round my place, where did you disappear to then, you were very unsociable after I had taken the trouble to come all the way over from Hoddesdon, I thought you might have at least bought me a pint.

3praise - Another childish post BewareofRhodents style and another case of people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I can drink with the best of them but tend not to make a habit of it and I prefer to choose who I drink with, I don't think I need to bulk up my masculinity to anybody as Paula will no doubt confirm following our meeting last night.

Well no doubt you know me well but why should I be embarrassed when, or if, I eventually find out who you are, I have nothing to hide (unlike you) and can hold my head up high particularly with Kentish Town at the summit of Division 1 at Christmas, Cliff Richard, Westlife and Slade style, all thanks to Clement Temile who Haringey, and particularly 'Sugar', weren't the slightest bit interested in. What does that tell you about the Club you papport to follow religiously, apart from when you have to do your Christmas shopping that is.
