Tostao? Wilkerson?

Should we be playing our best possible team to avoid relegation or shall we keep resting them for so long that eventually it becomes to late. I didnt boo last night I didnt leave early, but not playing Tostao for the last 30mins after the goal was criminal IMO. Anyway Moving on, lets beat Stevenage!!!

Funnily enough we were talking about this last night. When Liverpool were going through the bad time - no less than Rodney Marsh said, they should just play there best available eleven players, I like many others are not sure we are doing that at the moment.

No one wants to blame anyone for last night, we were very unlucky, but the first goal like it or not was down to the keeper. I did not boo last night or any other night for that matter, but Saturday is now a must win.

The thing with the Fleet at the moment is we do have 11 superb players to start the game and it seems that during the times when we had any old 11, how to pick a team has been forgotten. We can all go through our preffered starting 11’s and apart from a few player switches we would all have a similar team line up, I cant believe we are weakening the team to keep Jamie happy!

Have to fully agree on this.

Wilko has kept us in a lot of games this season and the high number of goals we've conceded in recent games owes just as much, if not more, to our disorganised defending.

Have just read Andy's report on Saturdays game regarding giving Jamie his chance at this level, but I feel that, given the situation we're in at the moment, the immediate future has to be the priority rather than giving experience to any individual players.

As far as Tos is concerned, I think he's a very exciting player and can cause chaos with his crosses and I think we should be trying to make more use of him. However, I do feel he's been more effective when he's come on as a sub rather than starting.

On a much more positive note, I felt that there were promising signs last night: the defence looked much more organised and, on the whole, we passed the ball better than we have been. Also, Pennock and Plummer both looked good.

We CAN get out of the relegation dog fight, but I agree that we've got to use our best players as much as possible to give ourselves a real chance.

Let's start with 3 points against Stevenage, which now really is a 'must win' game.

Come on you reds !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well somebody told me Wilko was nursing an injury, is that not the case? If not this is certainly not the time for keeping Jamie in goal for sentimental reasons, and the failure to bring Tostoa on was criminal, better still play him from the start, he was warming up vigourosly for a while and when our last sub was made and it wasn't him he looked far from happy as he trudged back to the bench, a player of his ability is not going to settle for that!

Why was Liam H. taken off I don't think he was injured? I don't like to criticise Che he is a smashing bloke but other than a few nice touches here and there he looked poor.

Having said that we had no luck at all last night and to be beaten three times by an average team like Margate is gauling, they are sound defensivley but not much else to say about them.

Saturdays game really is our most important for sometime a real six pointer, we really need a win but defeat will leave things looking very bleak, Stevenage would go above us on GD with games in hand, anyway I feel our luck must change soon and somebody will feel the backlash.

The major points here are really that Tostao and Wilkerson will not settle for Sitting out matches when they are maybe even a league better then conference! IMO. Tostao looked disappointed and although we tried to get behind him with some songs, his head was so low at the third sub that it was almost dragging! We cannot afford to lose Tostao or Wilkerson. Wilko is not injured, purely the fact that Andy favoured Jamie! I cannot see Jamie playing on Saturday after the clanger he dropped for the first goal! There is no way Andy could be that clouded.

Tostao was given ample opportunity to cement his first team place in the games against Dover and Hereford, obviously in the manager's opinion he didn't take this opportunity. At Dover he was poor, you could point to the pitch but then last nights pitch was equally as sticky/slippery in different places. The reports from Hereford said that the defender against him (James I think) had him in his back pocket.

If a player can only play on nice flat pitches then he shouldn't expect to play every week, Nick Hegley was a similar type of player to Tostao, scored more goals but also suffered with heavy pitches.

Mark Bentley would play on the right every week if he's fit through work rate alone.

Its up to Tostao to grab every opportunity he's given with both hands, since his return from his 'holiday' in Ireland he's been nowhere near the same player as he was before.

To say he is a league better is very questionable.

IMO I think Tostao could play in Division 3. He cannot use his skill to full potential in battling leagues like this. if he had even more time and space, which is what you get as you go up the leagues he would do even better, therefore IMHO very hard to keep! Only my Opinion mind you and I dont want2 see him go. The Reds are and always will be 11 not 1!

If Wilko was injured he showed no signs of it warming up at Hereford or last night. I think Andy gave Jamie a chance, as he has been very supportive of both Wilko and the team over the past months, taken that he was one of the winning squad last season.

However I think we wouwld all agree that sentiment must go out of the window on Sat, only 3 points will do.

My team would vary slightly from Richard, in so much as we don't seem to be able to score many goals, so perhaps Craig Wilko for Giles at the back, and Giles up front, as he has played up front before.

I also thought Owen played very well last night, considering it was his first full match back and the pitch was heavy, perhaps when you see how many changes we would all make we can see how difficult it is for Andy. Don't get me wrong I like Jamie Turner, he is always at matches and seems to be a good team member ( even with his suits) however I would still play Wilko (the GK).

I think Giles and Hatch would do well up front as long as someone provided good quality crosses.

We certainly played the ball better through midfield but without much threat upfront. Che seemed to have the wrong studs on and spent half of the match on the floor. We looked pretty solid at the back but as Margate didn't put us under any pressure that might not mean much.

Why was our second goal ruled out last night?

Using Players that are fit, and taking a real chance on the formation in an effort to win matches <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Wilkerson

Wilkins Pennock Giles

Bentley Strouts White Jackson

Lewis

Hatch Budge

Subs: Turner, Kwashi, Owen, Stadhart, Plummer

No offence, but wasn't Ben White the one who blazed three shots over the bar and did little else throughout the rest of the game? However, what we need now is stability and we should, therefore, keep the same team for Stevenage (with the exception of playing a 4-4-2)

In answer to Richard C i would replace Lee with Giles and put Wilkins in at centre back then i am happy with the rest, i would never boo my team if that 2nd goal had stood last night and we had won this would have been a different story unfortunatly for Jamie he was at fault with the 1st.

I'm all for trying Giles and Benno up front as we look so lightweight and for all Liam's efforts we're expecting a hell of a lot from a guy who wasn't a regular at a lower level last season .

Similar logic applies for Evans and Budge .

Surely Wilkerson must come back unless he's injured and I feel we also miss Nick Burton's calmness at the back .

[****!!****] , I think is a luxury in a battle for survival .
