Statement from Jim Hendry the ex Clapton F.C. Manager

As of 2nd Of December 06, I have resigned from Clapton F.C. as first team Manager. I would like to make it very clear that leaving the club had nothing to do with results or anybody else at the club. Not being able to work with Vince Mcbean was the only reason I resigned. There were many issues to be resolved at Clapton F.C. and the Chief Executive Vince Mcbean refused to have a meeting with me to discuss these issues despite repeated requests. I was in a position that unless Vince Mcbean was prepared to resolve some of these issues, I could no longer stay at the club. I could not send the players onto a pitch knowing what I knew. I met with the players after the Romford match and informed them that I was resigning and touched on one of the important issues that I had to take a stand on and for that (and many other issues) I had no choice to resign. Clapton F.C. are now suspended from the Essex senior league for one of the issues that I wanted to talk to Vince about.

I would like to wish all (except Vince Mcbean) at Clapton F.C. good luck for the future and I sincerely hope that they turn the corner.

I would also like to thank the following people in particular at Clapton F.C. who have all been of a great help to me and the club.

Jenny Oli, Gary Aquilina, Colin Walton, Jimmy Defoe, Steve Joseph, Luke Lesporis and Lucelta Eugene.

I would also like to thank the players, supporters and the many people who have wished me good luck for the future from Clapton F.C. and many other Essex Senior League Clubs.

Lastly I would like to thank everybody at the Essex Senior League who have all acted in a very professional manor and have been very helpful to both myself and Clapton F.C.

i used to go to clapton every home game most away game I used to go on the coach with the players and managememt team. I also cleaned the changing rooms look after the ground and serve behind the bar I put a lot of effort into the team to get a match on etc etc.

what a shame this club has gone this way seems he is trying to get the ground to build on.

Edit from now on ill just follow football and have fun oh a ground hopper

I understood that the Clapton ground is owned by the Grand Metropolitan Hotels group and there is a covenant which only allows the land to be used as a football ground.

I heard somewhere that Mr McBean was in charge at Woodford Town when it folded. Their ground is still there with floodlights but no buildings!
