Aylesbury Vale 2 Hertford Town 3

Recommended Posts

What a great game! Missing the unavailable Kevin Cooper, Hertford switched to a 4-5-1 formation, with Ryan Redford up front on his own. Hertford went ahead after 3 minutes, when Lee Roberts chipped a cross on to the head of that man Redford, and he obliged with a very rare header. Vale equalised after 27 minutes when their own No.9, Paul Talbot headed in from a corner. Vale controversially took the lead on 55 minutes when Talbot got his second from a free kick, awarded for hand ball against Ashley McAloon. The ref initially accepted that McAloon had chested the ball, but the lino insisted that it was hand ball, although he was not well placed at all to see.

Hertford threw everything at the home side, and hotshot Redford bagged two goals, on 75 and 78 minutes to win all three points for the Blues. This was Redford's SIXTH hat-trick of the season, and 35th goal in all. Great game to watch, some wonderful skills by Broxbourne Borough Blue's brother Scott, no bookings, no substitutions and for once, a really good refereeing performance.
