Bishops Stortford 3 City 2

For the last 4 league games we have had the same starting XI, bar Okuonghae for Theobald at Halifax, played well and got points in the bag.

Todays starting XI saw 2 changes, Flynn & Hakim for Seeby & Benyon, and we play like a Sunday League team.

Benyon has been on fire recently and any team would miss a striker who is in form. So what/who could have such a big impact on the team ?

Could this be related to the 'surprise' return of Hakim ?

Has his return caused disharmony in the dressing room ?

Are we just too complacent against lower league opposition ?

Do we play better when we are the underdogs ?

Have recent results been covering up problems in the team which have been there for most of the season ?

Personally, I think it is a combination of all of the above, to one degree or another. Probably the only 'positive' to come out of todays game is that we can now concentrate on the league without any distractions. Results generally over the holiday period and our own next 4 games will give us a clear indication of where we are likely to finish in the table come the end of April.

This was absolute [****!!****]. I felt more embarrassed than I did against Oxhey Jets. Bishops Stortford were no more than a route one side and we couldn't compete. Where was the marking in defence and the pressure in midfield? There seemed to be no direction or game plan. We gave then far to much time on the ball as we have done all season! Let's face it, we would have murdered them last season!

hey, we're far from a route one side. i think that's the first time i've heard us described as such in 20 odd years of watching the mighty bishops! we counter attack using pace through the middle. yesterday reminded me of why we got rid of certain players. best of luck for the rest of the season.
