Surprise inclusion in the City Side

Recommended Posts

According to the St Albans Observer, ( http://www.stalbansobserver.co.uk/sport/...hakim_saga.php) it was training and a reserve team match on Wednesday for Brighton & Hove Albion. He is due to play for Stevenage Reserves on Monday.

Surely there's no chance now of him playing against Stevenage on Boxing Day ???

but there again, who would have thought he would play for us again .....

For goodness sake people. The lad made a mistake, move on and get on with what needs to be done - winning matches and staying in the Conference. Ok so he thought he was moving to Weymouth. Hakim is young, he, like countless other people in this world, was enthusiastic about moving onto a club higher up.

Why not? Sport is a fickle thing. I'm 26 and love playing hockey. I will never play in a particularly high league but, on a personal note, I don't want to as I play for fun. In around 15 years I have been told I will have crippling atheritis (misspelling I know but you know what I mean) in my knee and will never play again. I consider myself lucky as I never though I'd be able to play again after my two operations.

Give the lad some slack. There's a short window of opportunity when it comes to playing sport at the highest level. He wants to do the best he can. Let his show you what he can do now.

Hakim, if you are reading this, don't take the easy way out and be loaned out from pillar to post - go back to St Albans and work your socks off. You're young but clearly talented, show your strong and you'll do yourself a lot of good. Don't burn your bridges!

I don't think any supporter would begrudge a player the opportunity to test themselves at a higher level and go full-time.

There is, however, 'the right way' to go about achieving this, especially when under contract.

Unfortunately in this instance, 'the wrong way' was taken, hence a number of disgruntled supporters and staff.

On the other hand, maybe he was led to believe he was not under contract, and for a young impressionable lad, having a large cheque for a five-figure sum waved under your nose would be hard to refuse. One also wonders what role his agent may have played in all of this. We shall probably never know.

Water under bridge etc, bring on the St Evenage.

I cannot understand the complaints about Hakim’s appearance at Bishops Stortford. It could have been a masterstroke playing him yesterday. Players often score against their former clubs so it could have been the perfect platform on which to win favour with his detractors. Had Paul scored everyone on this message board would have been singing the praises of both Hakim and LL today.

Histon’s 5-0 drubbing of Cambridge United illustrates that some of the stronger sides in Conference South are better than the weaker sides in the Nationwide Conference. As a result, I don’t think you can be too surprised that Bishops Stortford beat you yesterday. What is alarming is how few of your fans travelled over to the game yesterday. The City really does need to get behind the club if your going to retrieve anything from this season.

Not everyone, Duke of York.

Colin Lippiatt picks the team and it's up to him, regardless of any level of public opinion.

And I can't believe for a moment that the manager selected Hakim as "this was the perfect platform on which to win favour with his detractors". Grow up.

Perhaps he has been on a scouting mission for his replacement in the January Transfer window ?

Maybe took the opportunity to pass on some tips at the same time on how we play, in preparation for Boxing Day ? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
