Islington Gazette 15/12

Recommended Posts

Despite the fact that our match at Buckingham Athletic was postponed last week we were still all over the Islington Gazette like a rash today right up there alongside your Cesc Fabregas's, Robin van Persie's, Thiery Henry's and Alexanda Hleb's. The article went on to say that although Cockfosters were five points clear at the top they were pretty much in a false position and we had a game in hand with three of our last four games falling foul of the weather which would have otherwise put us top.

Folks - Has anybody by any chance seen the Islington Gazette today, the words 'all over' and 'rash' spring very much to mind!

What on earth is the point of starting a new thread for just one post.

Folks, you may like to see the report in question that was splashed all over the sports pages alongside Arsenal's FA Cup exploits:

Friday 16 February

Spartan South Midlands League Division 1

Kentish Town 2 Sun Postal Sports 0

Town finally got back to winning ways with a very impressive display against mid table Sun Postal Sports in a 'home' fixture brought forward to the Friday evening and switched to Sun Postal's fine facilities in the suburbs of Watford due to the ongoing groundshare problems with Hendon Football Club.

Town were almost caught cold early on when a defensive lapse let in a forward and only a superb saving tackle from Aaron Hutchins saved Town from going a goal behind.

Town began to ascert some penetrative pressure after their early fright and made a number of raids into the Sun Postal half of the field with Dave Dawson, Tom McMullen and livewire Safraz Pivano all instrumental, McMullen was playing in the centre forward position due to the continued absence Lee Scott and admiralbly took to the task like a duck to water.

Town were unlucky not to take the lead when a flighted Pivano free kick from the corner flag just failed to find a head and Daniel Young then let fly with an acrobatic effort that just cleared the bar.

The first period ended even however Town got the bit between their teeth almost immediately after the restart and took the lead on 55 minutes through Shaka Cole, his first strike of the campaign, when getting on the end of a loose ball following a melee.

Town then proceeded to go further ahead on 62 minutes when Daniel Young was left unmarked inside the penalty area to calmly steer the ball past a helpless keeper.

The game began to get a little physical with some meaty challenges being dished out by both sides, shortly after Town's second goal debutant Gary Rowland upended an attacker in the penalty area and Referee Mr O'Neil had no option but to point to the penalty spot. The kick was not particularly well struck and James Noonan was able to get down low to his left to make an excellent stop at the foot of the post.

The penalty miss frustrated Sun Postal and their heads dropped at this point giving Town extra incentive to see out the remaining fifteen minutes of the proceedings without too much difficulty.

Town Team: Noonan, R Quattromini, Rowland, Hutchins, Kanaris, Cole, Young, Pivano, T McMullen, Dawson, Looney.

Sub: Zanre

HTFCew - Yes agreed but who knows that other than the majority of SSML Division 1 Club's. Lato - You don't need to go to Islington now I have helpfully posted the report for all to see although if anybody does want an actual copy of the paper they can PM me with their address and I will forward a copy, naturally free of charge as that's the sort of person I am unlike what you and Spidermanor seem to think, I'll do anything for anybody, well within reason.

Well not now it isn't but I simply posted originally to point out that we (Kentish Town) were all over the Islington Gazette like a rash again, I wasn't expecting or asking anyone to respond.

Why do you have to make such a song and dance of it? Most if not all SSML clubs get their reports in their local papers each week and I don't see the press officers/club secretaries of all those clubs feeling the need to point out how their club is all over their relvant paper like a rash. Oh yes I forget they aren't all publicity seeking egotistical club jumpers like you are they clip rods.

Lato - What on earth is a Club jumper, I took a drop down a division to come to Kentish Town following my departure from Haringey as the job very much appealed however I was offered Secretarial positions at a number of Ryman Division Club's which goes to show I'm not egotistical as you unfairly and inaccurately claim. As for the Islington Gazette I know many members of the Forum reside in the Borough so I am simply pointing out the fact that we (Kentish Town) are all over the local paper again like a rash, they are not obliged to buy a copy and I'm not twisting their arms behind their backs.

a club jumper is someone who professes to devoutedly support one club but ends up offering his or her services to another because of a belief that more success and personal glory could be gleaned from such a move. Bit like someone who jumps on a bandwagon.
