Bristol Rovers have terminated the contract of midfielder Dwayne Plummer and referred the matter to their solicitors.

"Dwayne has had his contract terminated for gross misconduct," said club chairman chairman Geoff Dunford.

"There is nothing more I can say because the matter is now in the hands of solicitors."

Plummer, 24, started his career at local rivals Bristol City before moving to non-league side's Stevenage and Chesham.

He joined the Pirates in September 1999 but his career has been hindered by injuries and Plummer has made only 35 appearances for the club.

On Stevenage forum:

'Plummer was suspended by Rovers in September for what the club would only describe as "an incident at a gym".

The player launched an appeal against the decision to terminate his contract, but this was settled in December prior to any formal hearing. Since then he has been without a club. '

Nice to see he goes to the gym and keeps fit anyway.....

Stevenage fans don't seem very complimentary about him.
