Newcastle to Truro -451 miles each way! Is this a 4th round record?

This place is GOING to be cold in mid January. Actaully, I would not be supprised if the match is postponed and ends up being midweek

Still, its not too bad, its pretty much Brighton, so not to far, in fact a train from Hendon goes all the way to Brighton, though I am sure the club will put run a coach like we did on Saturday.

Could have been worse, rather play them, then say a trip up to the North East.

Another team who haven't applied for promotion to step 4. Maybe their ground isn't up to it.

You can see pics here Gavin:

Looks a very basic ground. So they have not applied for promotion? they are clear top at the moment.

What is the standard of the Sussex county league like? I have heard of several of the clubs but not Whitehawk before.

The FA website makes no mention of that game, which is prob the longest journey, they do mention these games...

The FA Carlsberg Vase went "national" today as the draw for the Fourth Round Proper was made at Soho Square.

Glasshoughton Welfare from West Yorkshire travel down to Wimborne Town in Dorset to play the 1992 Vase winners and there are long trips too for Barwell (Leicestershire) to Bideford (Devon), West Auckland Town (County Durham) to VCD Athletic (Kent) and Curzon Ashton (Lancashire) to Eastbourne Town (Sussex).

Lowestoft Town enjoyed a comprehensive 5-0 home win against Welwyn Garden City in the Third Round on Saturday and their reward is to host an all-Suffolk clash with Ipswich Wanderers, who also had a handy win at the weekend, 4-0 against Oxhey Jets. Both play in the Eastern Counties League's Premier Division.

Quorn, from the Midland Alliance, had a thrilling 3-2 extra-time victory at fancied FC United to set up a home tie with Stratford Town. The latter, also from the Alliance, are in the Fourth Round for the first time for 30 years.

The rather unromantically named Enclosed Ground is in fact considerably better than it sounds and is one of the more attractive County League grounds to visit, particularly when the weather is good. The ground is tucked away at the end of a long lane in East Brighton Park on the outskirts of Brighton, not far from the Marina and roughly inbetween the exclusive Roedean Girls’ Public School to the East, and Brighton racecourse high on the downs to the North-West. There is plentiful car parking outside the ground and behind the near goal. Once inside the reason for the ground’s descriptive name becomes clear as the Sussex Downs rise upwards from beyond the far touchline.

It is only really from the stand, which is set some way back from the pitch, that one becomes fully aware of a pronounced slope which runs from one end to the other. Although a large bank runs along the far touchline, most spectators prefer the elevated view afforded from the stand. From here one can also see the large ‘Hawk’ carved into the chalk of the Downs opposite.

...........

So great, one poxy stand that is a distance from the pitch, and does not appear to have proper seats, no terraces, and a SLOPE on the pitch

Is this the worst ground left in the FA Vase ???

Sussex County league usually have a couple of decent sides and all the players are guys who could play at a higher level but just stick to County Football. Have heard a rumour that the Sussex FA want to take the county league out of the pyramid. I fancy you to win that one Gav and then have to travel up north in the next round. At least you are still in it eh !

I think we can get past them, it may take extra time or a replay though.

A trip up north? well there are a number of Northern teams left

Disgusting although it's probably a worse crime to have one and not keep it updated. Your odds are 40/1 to win the Vase, I've just checked with my bookie mate but you can't double it up with the tenner you already have running on the league bet at 6/1.
