Can somebody in an official capacity...

...explain this please.

Saturday December 23, Romford's first team are away to Brentwood (weather permitting). Big game, last Saturday before Xmas doesn't make a lot of sense, but we got used to having Enfield Town in midweek.

On the same day, Romford Reserves have a cup final at home against Heybridge Swifts Res.

Now why can't the final be played midweek as the crowd for this is going to be p!ss poor?

i would imagine you need to ask someone at romford.

the league fixtures are luck of the draw. who was to know brentwood would be top of the league??? and they dont have fans!!! so why would it be a 'big' game at the beginning of the season.

Local derby, has always been a bit of a crowd puller in the days of Boxing Day matches...Surely the idea is to promote the League, so what is the point of having any matches on that day so close to Christmas?

We only play a 30-match League season, so plenty of time in the New Year to get games in...

That is only a small part of my gripe..why on earth schedule a reserve cup final when the first team is playing? Got nowt to do with Romford, the officials are just as p!ssed off about it too...

Just as a matter of interest who does run the Brian Hitchens Memorial Trophy and why can't they and the ESL can't put their heads together to work out an equitable solution to this obvious clash.

After all it is particularly in the BHMT people's interest to get as large a crowd as possible to that match the same as the cup final (the actual details escape me) that took place at RG last season.

There is still just about time to do this otherwise most of the Boro supporters will just have to wait and see if ground conditions at Brentwood allow the first team game to take place on that day or not before deciding their match day venue.
