What were you doing to dislocate your knee at night ?....or shouldn't I ask ? Leaping off of those wardrobes again ? Shocking behaviour !

Cheers,

I don't have details of Amy's progression to a Conference referee but assume that she must be highly thought of to have got this far. I don't see gender as being an issue. I thint it is a bit naff to use the political correctness insult. A person is either good at a job or not as the case might be. Today if anything she did us two favours. The first was ordering the penalty to be taken again. The second was not even showing Hawkins a card for a poor tackle in the second half which could so easily have been a straight red. As for giving the penalty, she was unsighted and the assistant ref waved for this. We lost because we weren't good enough. It is as simple as that.

Agreed, whilst I have seen penalties given for Keeling's first tumble it wasn't exactly cut and dried.

To blame the referee is nothing short of ridiculous - we weren't good enough and got what we deserved if 3-0 did flatter them a bit.

The 3-5-2 puzzled me when the opposition have two out and out wingers (Guppy and Dobson) as well as Boyd who drifts wide for parts of the game - add to this them bringing on both Binns and Nurse and we were always going to be stretched.

Quinn was poor - Ricketts returning to fitness and occupying the holding role he did with such style against Oxford is becoming increasingly important.

Next week worries me greatly - it has all the hallmarks of us getting beat.

i was sitting right in front of their penalty and it was a case of ball hitting hand not a deliberate handaball

If the letter of the law was followed, barely any penalties would be awarded for handball. After all, how many handballs can one truly say are 'deliberate'?

In reality, handballs seem to be decided by convention rather than by the law (i.e. free-kicks/penalties will usually be given if the player's arm is away from his body or above his head). It would probably help if either a) free-kicks/penalties were only given for truly deliberate handballs, or B) the wording of the law were changed to reflect current conventions.

In the modern game, Hawkins' handball would be given more often than not given, even if it wasn't deliberate.

The Penalty wasn't a penalty,

I have to disagree with you there. I believe it was a deliberate handball by Peter Hawkins, otherwise why would he have his arm at full length in the air... the referee got that right I must say.

There were certain parts of the match where I was impressed with the Fleet's display, such as Stacy Long's good running and the vision to see Jon Keeling running down the left wing. Most of the game though, we were not up to scratch at all.
