This is what I think the starting line up will be

Billy

Macca, Heffer, Blewitt, Kerrers

Whelpdale, Hunter, Dormer, Hodges

Burbridge, Holland

Subs: Elder, Hill, Game, Flack, Worster

This is my starting line up would be

Worster

Macca, Heffer, Blewitt, Kerrers

Whelpdale, Hunter, Dormer, Hodges

Elder, Flack

Subs: Burbridge, Hill, Game, Swaine, Billy.

Firstly - I think it would be too risky to expect Billy to play up to his usual standard after such a long period out. And I don't think that Worster has played that badly to warrant an immediate swop. He may have made some mistakes (well, the defence has had it's moments in front of him as well) but he has pulled off some fantastic saves to keep us in the match.

Secondly - I've been having some good hearted discussions with Grant over the preferred strikers. Whereas I would freely admit that Billy Holland works hard and is improving, I still prefer Joe Flack, who in my opinion is a natural predator and Nathan is on scoring form. Rikki, is my natural replacement for Nathan if he needs to be substituted. Rikki, from what I have seen, has some great control and knows where the net is. If fact, I think Rikki could also replace Joe if needs be. Now that'll be interesting...Nathan and Rikki up front...But that experiment would be for another game.

Grant and my discussions have been quite frank and I accept his arguements, We have quite some depth in our squad and with our new signing, Lloyd, we're looking stronger as the season progresses. Matt has some difficult choices as regards what players to play....which is nice in some ways....

Quote taken from the Wombles board..(And we lost)!

"It was interesting to read the Horsham fans article in the programme on Saturday. He thought Billericay were the best team they had played this season. Looking forward to Saturday then !"

I think Ronnie missed training last night through illness, so this may have a baring on team selection for Saturday.

Gazz, Grant likes to play devils advocate, he is the clubs biggest fan of all our players and I have never known him to have favorites.

I'm interested to know why (just pure curiosity) you think Rikki will start in preference to Nathan.

Whilst we're mentioning Rikki, the new Lean Fit Rikki will, when he gets his chance, and it may well be Saturday, he will, be looking to make the centre forward spot his own.

The work he has put in over the last 6 weeks or so has been outstanding. The other lads had better start looking over their shoulder.

TC, I know Grant plays devils advocate and the discussions we have had hae been fun and frank. That is what I like about him (and all our management team). Yes he doesn't have favorites but football is about opinions and we both express ours...And I enjoy our discussions.

Why do I think the management will start with Rikki...Out of the two "new" strikers (he and Holland), he has great control, is as aggressive as Joe Flack, he holds the ball up well and of the minutes he has played for the team, has scored two very good goals. He "knows" where the goal is and I can see him scoring every time he plays (okay, he didn't last week but for no lack of trying on his part). He looks dangerous on the ball. No disrespect to Billy Holland, who works very hard for the team and went close a couple of times last week but Rikki is, in my opinion, the better player...But I am prepared to stand corrected...football is a funny game.

(actually, I think it may even be possible to have him start with Nathan but how many possible teams can we have?)

Why haven't I included him in my first eleven? He has only just become fit. I would use him to replace one of the front two at the moment, if the need arises but, he isn't far off starting a game in my mind.

Now for the discalimer...people may think that I don't like Billy Holland. Not true. He is certainly a talent and one which gives us options and depth up front. I think we have quite a lot of depth in our squad and can see us getting the results that the talent deserves but it takes hard work to win games (a qoute from Justin Edinburgh) and we need to continue with the work ethic as well as develop the talent and team spirit of not just the team but the club as a whole.

Phew...a sensible post...no banter, no insults...I need a lie down now...that or a Chelmo supporter to start displaying his BBB attitude... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
