Perhaps we should have a poll, I'm sure 99.9% of members were as honoured as I was, if not more so, to have Tony posting on here, you seem to be the only exception who doesn't appear to be that fussed.

Stop trying to twist the thread and just answer the question Rhodes. By what criteria do you judge another to be of a higher calibre than Horace, Paula, Rak, Gavin, Lato, Spidermanor, HTFCew, NeutralFan, Hair, Krooner, Maldini66, Blues06 or any of the other people who post on here? That is what you were insinuating with this comment...

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to get at here but surely Tony has celebrety status compared to the likes of the individuals you mention above, with no offence to them, indeed I'll be surprised if they don't agree with me. Tony is highly regarded in non-league circles due to his innovative and hugely popular Website and everyone at our level of the game up, to and including, the Conference has heard of him, has everyone heard of Horace, Paula, Rak, Gavin, Lato, Spidermanor, HTFCew, NeutralFan, Hair, Krooner, Maldini66, Blues06 or you or me. That's my point.

Well, let me explain what I'm getting at.

 

I can't speak of the others but I know that, as a former Secretary of the Isthmian Lower Joint Liaison Committee, my name used to appear in the handbooks of several different leagues (including the SSML) as a key contact person. In fact, the Herts County League handbook listed me as the person to contact for all matters to do with the non-league pyramid! Also, your own Chairman will tell you of the work I did with Russell Grant. I would, therefore, think that as many people have heard of me as they have of another.

 

Not sure whether any of the above meets your criteria for "celebrity status" but I'm sure that others on this forum have, like myself, done plenty more than you know of. Yes, some of the forum users are just supporters or players, but there are others that have given a lot of time and effort to the running of the game. Therefore, my point is that you appear to classify "calibre" and "celebrity status" based on supposition and assumption and not on any general knowledge. You like to consider yourself knowledgeable about non league football and the people in it but you clearly have a lot to learn yet.

 

And, before you get the wrong end of the stick again, none of the above is anything to do with Tony as a person. I am very appreciative of the work that Tony does and have always considered his website, and the forum in particular, to be a valuable resource tool. Unlike you, I haven't needed to backtrack on previous critical comments just because he has posted on here.

Russell Grant is our club partron, he is also the partron of at least one other Middx club I know of. What exactly does a partron do? I have not seen Russell at any Edgware games, thats not to say he has not watched the club before.

Maybe I should have a word with him and see what the future holds for Edgware, if he says a BIG Final in May, I will be happy <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Actually do you know how to get hold of him? email or anything? I would like to invite him to a game at the WLG.

Gavin, Russell Grant is the patron of every club in Middlesex, its one of his obsessions. Met him a few times down at the Manor and at other official functions during my time as an official. Nice guy, but lives in wales now so he doesn't get to many games any more. I've got his e:mail somewhere, but might not be able to find it quickly. His brother of course is Garry Grant who is secretary of Hillingdon Borough, he could certainly pass on any messages for you.

Rhodes be suprised, another is well known in non league circles but is not a celebrity, he is just a guy who runs a website. A popular one but thats it, although he is certainly worthy of more respect than other people you obsess over. Reading your waffle on here just shows you up as the hypocritical sycophantic waster you are. You have been critical of him and his site for a long time, now you want to suck up to him. For the record views of my own website stand at 42,308, does that make me well known and worthy of celebrity status?

Thanks for the info, I did not know he was patron of EVERY club in middx, but I know he put his name to the middx chairty cup a few years ago.

Spidermanor - Well this is a little uncalled for and if Tony reads it I'm sure he will agree and think that you're the 'bad guy' in all of this nonsense not me. I also thought we were friends and you were just pulling my leg half the time but you seem to have a genuine dislike for me which is disappointing to say the least, afterall it's only a Forum at the end of the day and not life or death, Shankly style. I didn't know you had your own Website or are you talking about the Ruislip Manor one, I don't really see the relevance particularly as hits on Tony's site are measured in millions as opposed to thousands hence his 'celebrity' status.

Well I don't know who you are do I, yet. I have some Haringey Borough Christmas cards left from a batch of 250 I bought out of my own pocket last year, I was going to send them to John Bacon today but if you PM me your address I'll send them to you, it sounds like a good will gesture you might appreciate unlike the Club's ungrateful hierarchy who never reimbursed me for the cards and postage. Reading between the lines you seem like a decent sort of bloke despite some silly comments on here.
