I think we have a GREAT chance of promotion now. You will see Leverstock fall away big time now. Their players will see that their club have not applied and once out of the Vase will move elsewhere. If they get knocked out on Saturday, I would not be supprised if there is a mass exodus from Leverstock.

Same could apply to Harefield, will their players want to stay at a club that missed out last season on GD and this season has fallen away, and not applied for promotion.

I think the effects of this could be seen at in a number of leagues where clubs have not applied.

I guess it depends if the players want to go up or not, but I would imagine most do

Why have London Colney and WGC applied? WGC ground is not up to standard, and they wont win the league. Broxbourne have done some work to their ground but a lot more needs to be down to bring it up to step 4 standard.

I am very supprised that Harefield have not applied, because they have a good ground, and an outside chance of winning the league.

I think that more then one club could be promoted from the SSML, seeing that some other leagues specailly the Eastern counties have so few teams applying.

Especially if you look at the clubs in curent relegation trouble for the Southern League. In the South & West division you have a bottom 2 of Beaconsfield and Hanwell, both formerly of the SSML & in the Midlands league Berko & Leighton Town. All are in the catchment area for the SSML at Step 5

Gavin,
WGC City's ground wouldn't need that much work to make the grade.

None of the current top 4 in the Northern league have applied - they obviously don't fancy the additional travel involved, as surely they would all go up if they applied, with the new step 4 being northern biased.

As a one-off to assist the creation of the extra step 4 division in the north, The FA have agreed that 3 clubs from each of the northern based step 5 leagues can be promoted regardless of finishing position.
This does not apply to leagues in the south where only one team will be promoted which will be the champion club or 2nd placed if the champions have not applied.
In both the north and the south clubs will still have to meet the step 4 ground grading to be promoted.

Welcome Tony! Didn't know you supported Harefield - any idea why they haven't applied?

Harefield was where I was born and brought up. I now live in York but visit Harefield every so often as my Mum still lives there. To say I support them is an over statement but I do follow their progress.

I was surprised when Harefield were not in the list of applications, particularly as they only missed out on goal difference last season.

I am trying to find out the reason they have not applied

We dont need to do that much to our ground to bring it up to step 4 standard!
