Well it's relevant that if they were paid by you earlier in the season they will surely be getting money to play at Cockfosters and Hoddesdon albeit at a lower level, just answer the question.

To answer the question (unlike you 90% of the time), Potters Bar Town have only ever paid contracted players and neither of the two players in question were on contract. Players may be paid reasonable travelling expenses, where relevant, but who those players are and what expenses they receive are an internal matter within the club.

I always admire a straight bat approach, Geoff Boycott style against Bishan Bedi! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

That's exactly what I'm saying, I've seen it with my own eyes and only wish I had my camera at the time, the great one's face was a picture.

Im agreeing with PaulB on that one, that is ridiclous, how many people do you believe are aware of him outside of this forum and KTFC, people would pay more attention as said to managers and people involved at Ryman and lower leagues for years. People dropping down in front of him in Brent Cross, people may fall down because it is packed but for him, that is pathetic as I have said before and I will continually say this man will not work at a higher level. I would say to PaulB if you fancy or can be bothered go and see a training session of his or a match and make your own mind up with his coaching ability, nothing special believe me!

To be fair they were elderly Nigerian guys on both occasions who clearly worshipped the ground the great one walked on when he was playing in the 80's similar to some of us lot with Liam Brady and Glenn Hoddle for example. As I understand it this is common practice over there and Clement can't go anywhere in Lagos without being treated like a God which I know is irritating for him, presumably it happens to other players too such as Jay Jay Ockocha and in other African Countries like Ghana and Cameroon with Clement's best mate Roger Milla, the flagpole dancer from Italia '90.

I showed this post to the Nigerian lady who sits next to me at work and she just burst out laughing and asked how anyone could be so stupid!

Rhodes, I find it hard to believe that two elderly gentlemen would get down on their knees for anyone. Surely they would need help getting back up again? Unless of course, there happened to be a Kentish Town player nearby doing his community service, sorry, I mean community work.

Potters Bar Town - Well let me try to put it into some sort of context. Who was your favourite player when you were growing up in the 70's, I assume you are roughly the same sort of age as me, possibly slightly younger so my guess is you were born in 1962. My favourite was Charlie George and I would have certainly gone down on bended knee to him if I had passed him in the streets of Highbury or Holloway and would probably still do so now, therefore it isn't beyond the realms of improbability that Nigerian folk would do likewise with their boyhood heroes particularly as they can be even more passionate about the beautiful game than we can.

I think it also depends a lot on whether you live and breath the beautiful game as I have done religiously since the tender age of three when I sat on my dads shoulders on the old North Bank at Highbury, God rest its sole (and his). Whippersnappers on here (no names mentioned) who have the privilege of playing at Step 3, 4 and 5 level don't realise how lucky they are and shouldn't take it for granted, I would have walked ten miles for a game of football over Hackney Marshes let alone in stadiums such as Broxbourne, Hendon, Brook House and Hertford Town.
