I've said it before and I'll say it again - WE NEED A STRIKER WHO CAN HEAD THE BALL AND SCORE GOALS WITH THEIR HEAD!!!!!

Now we have this powerful weapon in the long throw the need is more than ever, when was the last time we scored with a header in the leauge?????

Jon Challinor v Barintree in the first week of November was the last time we scored in the leauge with a header. Kind of says it all really!

Thierry Henry scored only his second ever header in the Premiership today, Thornsy. Arsenal don't need a striker who can head the ball, do they?

 

Gary Ansell can head a ball well. Although I'm not sure you're his biggest admirer, are you?

The new boys will take a few games to settle. I wonder how many they have got.

 

Stirling's throw is quite something but he looked a little 'arms and legs' to me. He could do well laying the ball off to the playmakers in the midfield.

 

Young seems to have real pace and a great shot but I wonder if he is a bit of a luxury?

I spoke to Richard Wilmot in the clubhouse after the game. He swears that he played the ball and that it was never a penalty. The refereee said that he didn't. Wilmot said, "well if that's the case, why not send me off as I was the last man?!" [A courageous statement if you ask me.] The referee replied " No, he was forced wide". Presumably by the non-existent foul?

 

With the exception of Hendon, the results went really well for us on Saturday. It's going to be good this season.

They were signed on the 31st Dec so we should get three more games out of them, Dulwich (if not cup-tied!) Hitchin and Riccy away.

Grand Oral Disseminator is a playmaker in the midfield. The old Disseminator - Roberts (Gary) partnership that blossomed in the EFM side of last year. Memories.

Although I don't expect him to break into sweat, I have become a fan of Scott Oakes over the past 6/8 weeks. He is always looking to do something with the ball.

 

Challinor works hard and does break into a sweat.

 

I think that Kean has had a good season. Pacy in attack, good feet etc.

 

Which one is the playmaker? Hmmn. I'm not sure that Castle was the 'playmaker' when he first arrived. Influential, yes. Hard in the midfield. Smith is another Kean only left-sided. Who was the playmaker for the first 10 games of the season? The midfield was just playing well as a unit to me but then, I don't know anything about football.
