Stones 3-2 Slough

Good game today I thought. Stones dominated the first half, except for an excellent save from our keeper Andy Carter. Second half, we sat back and invited the pressure (as we always seem to do when we are in front after the break).

Slough had enough chances to at least get a draw, and instead of slagging off Steve Browne (will always be a Wealdstone legend), you should be asking questions of your expensive side. Some of those chances missed near the end of the game were scandalous. Stones just about hung on, but at least stepped up a gear again when you pulled the game back to 3-2.

In all honesty, I can't see you guys going up, or even being in the shake up. Good turnout from your fans (90-100 I'd guess), the best at the White Lion Ground this season.

I'd have counted the Slough turnout at slightly higher (120 mark).

As for slagging off Steve Browne, who exactly assembled the expensive side? He's assembled a side which he cannot manage, because he doesn't know how.

Agreed on the match report though. We were awful in first half and were allowed to play in the second half and dominated. Wasn't that impressed with either the Stones style of timewasting play all throughout the second half, the lack of home support, or the direct lump it style of play employed by your defence, not that we were much better as the scoreline suggests.

2 points-----Why is it that it is always opposition supporters who support Browne---never our own fans?

and How come every time a wealdstone player was tackled, they went down holding their head---must have happened a dozen times, and each time the ref fell for it. If I'd wanted to see acting, I would have gone to a West End theatre, not a football match.

I guess for us Stones, the problems you're having with Brownie are irrelevant. We simply remember him for the player he was at Lower Mead and Vicarage Road. One of our most favourite sons.

As for the gamesmanship from our players, it's been done to us for years and years. Whatever it takes to win a game.. although I admit, I find it very frustrating when our opponents do it. A bit hypocritical I suppose.

Wealdstone deserved their win in as much that both penalties were as blatant as any you'll see and we wasted enough possession and chances to have won a couple of games.

It would be nice to think that Wealdstone would be punished though for the most scandalous timewasting tactics I've seen in over 25 years of watching live football. Their goalkeeper started shortly after their first goal and by the latter part of the second half they were dropping like flies. Man of the match for Wealdstone should be given to their physio.

scrappy game thought we just edged it. shocking refereeing.

can someone tell me where 15 mins total added on time came from???? and how the hell your first goal stood? the lino has flagged for an offside the so the goal is disallowed he then overrules the lino and gives the goal!!!! whats the point in having linos if you don't trust their judgment???

and why didn't your man see red for the second pen? clear through on goal and sythed down.

your team where great on the attack, helped a bit by our need to sit back a defend a lead as usual. but defensively you are poor. especially the number 2 ?!?!?!? get that sorted and i think you will be alright.

a for out support for some reason we ar mutes at home this season, but you where not mush better, with the odd mustering of "slough town".

judge us on our away support.

results went well for us today, but still tight and its anybodys, including you.

Where did the 15 minutes extra come from? That's a joke right? How many times did your physio need to come onto the pitch in the second half? Every debateable challenge resulted in one of your players staying down with an injury.

As for Mets not being sent off, the forward simply ran directly in front of him, as all forwards do, and his leg caught Mets in the box. That and he was running away from goal.

Our number 2 (Rainford) is a central midfielder who the twat in charge of the team decides to continually play out of position.

The lino was over ruled because the TWO players which were offside were nowhere near the ball. The player who did score had a defender right behind him and couldn't have been offside. The referee spotted this and this is why the goal stood and rightfully so.

I'm pleased you said that. why are all you lot moaning about the timewasting tactis by a few of our players when the referee put that right by adding on the time????

It was a defender that was was brought down for the second ben (tyrone hercules) so it wasn't a forwards typical run was it?

and your man still should have seen red.

I was standing by a neutral yesterday....

His comments why did Slough not win that match....if that had been a boxing match it would have been stopped in the 2nd half ....as Wealdstone only had one shot at the target where as Slough had a dozen....

So Wealstone you edged it ....don't think so.....

the Result was the right way for you.... and 3 points were yours....but I bet you lose again and you too maybe should have one it .....but thats football.......

Slough are not out of the race yet....but it is time for some more points.....up the Rebels.....

cheers.............. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Time might have been added on although nothing like fifteen minutes. The reason it finished late was because the second half kicked off late.

You can add all the time you like but time wasting disrupts the flow of the game which is exactly what the Wealdstone players were trying to achieve by play acting. It's against the rules but, unfortunately, the referee let them get away with it instead of showing yellow cards like he should have done.

i will ignore your cheating then. everytime you got a free kick you moved it yards up the pitch. and on one occation when marvin moved the ball to where it should have been he was booked?!?!?

the reason you had so much posession the second half was because we let you have it. it has heappened every game this season. we are winning then sit back and invite pressure.

our first half performance was enough to win it. it if was a boxing match it would have been stopped in the first half.

the ref was cr@p to both sides.

We play crap, sit back far too much but win with a team made up of last year's youth team on a budget of about a third of yours. Who's the one laughing?

As for the streetboy, nice draw again!
