Sounds like a good game as that is the first time we have scored twice away in ages.

Easily our best performance for ages hit the crossbar twice as well in the first half, Douglas took his goal very well although didn't do much else but who cares if he scores loads.

 

Danny Gilley was playing centre half and we were almost playing a 433 formation with Riachrd pushed up almost alongside Ansell and Douglas.

Home crowd were not happy kept moaning at the ref (who wasnt great) but their team were poor but not as poor as their pitch!

Good performance today, Penn outstanding, my MOTM, with JJ and the back 4 also excellent. Douglas looked a touch rusty at times but an excellent finish for his goal - Ansell got through a lot of work today, when Sutton put us under pressure he was dropping back into midfield and making challenges. If Sutton are a good benchmark for a top 5 position, then I see no reason why we can't be up there at the end of the season........ Maybe famous last words but I'm going to enjoy a good win today <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

the omission of fewings n rantala from the starting xi was the subject of much pre match chat. however their replacements ansell n particularly gilley had decent games.

 

the pitch was in bad nick but i thought we deserved our win as not only did we hit the bar twice but we were trying to play some footy in the 2nd half.

 

i tght the ref had a good game for a change until he blotted his copybook at the end by finding about 8 minutes of injury time.

 

i disagree slightly with rod in that i tght andy d had a good game all round and will only get better with more games under his belt.

 

given that perhaps things arent perfect behind the scenes i tght this was an excellent result and the team rolled their sleeves up and stuck it out well. good on yer....

 

picking the team for tuesday should be fun with so many ineligible players esp up front..douglas,ansell and fewings, morris ineligible also, and with wallo likely to be away still (wish jamie and family all the best for sure)...any ideas what xi we might come up with?

Andy Douglas looks like he's getting better with every game for us, hopefully he won't have to wait another 3 weeks for his next game in a blue shirt! He was the only player to have not played either tuesday or wednesday so can be excused for looking a little rusty!

 

Tuesday is a tough one, reckon it'll be the XI players available who will start:

Just been looking at the league fixtures - having climbed a place on saturday, if we beat Hayes this coming saturday we'll climb above them to 8th. St Albans tuesday week represents one of our games in hand (although obv not over St Albans, nor over C*nv*y as they are also playing that night). With Hendon and C*nv*y in FA Trophy action the saturday after we will have the opportunity to make up ground on them on the 1st feb when we travel to Stortford.

 

Confused???? Basically all we have to do is keep winning!

Apparently there has been some debate as to whether saturday was 299 or 300 - I believe 299 was settled on meaning tonight is No.300! All the more reason to get to New lodge tonight to salute a legend!
