When I met him at Bowers earlier in the season, he said he was there to "promote" Brentwood. I didn't know whether he meant get them promoted or promote them in the sense of raising their profile!!!

An under strength Aveley side went down by the odd goal in five in Tuesday's Eastern Floodlight League Group 3.

The Millers started the brighter of the two sides and went into the lead after 19 minutes when Sam Adejokun headed in from close range after a Daniel Francis cross was headed goalwards by Julian Edwards.

It did not take long for the Essex Senior League side to level the score. After 22 minutes Neal Hughes's effort was originally saved by Ashley Harris but the stand in goalkeeper lost control of the ball and it trickled into the net.

Aveley re-established the lead when Lawrence Yiga's shot from the edge of the area was saved by Hullbridge goalkeeper Richard Mann but he spilled it into the path of Edwards who was on hand to the tap the rebound in.

Hullbridge started the better in the second half and deservedly equalised for the second time when, after 54 minutes, Bobby Port missed the ball allowing Aaron Gosling to be one on one with Harris and his effort beat the on rushing keeper to give the hosts a chance of producing a shock.

Four minutes later and the hosts took the lead for the first time in the match when Chey Spreadborough was in acres of space at the back post and he confidently shot low into the corner past Harris.

Although Aveley then changed their personnel and dominated possession wise they could not unlock a battling Sports side and the game ended with the Hullbridge players and fans celebrating like they had just won an FA Cup final .

We beat Barkng 3 -1 last night and should have been 6/7 - 1 really, kingy in barking goal played well.

They are the worst floodlights ever.

dear chopper,taking nothing away from the young hullbridge lads performance last night.the word "embarassment"(hi bboy <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bisou.gif" alt="" />)was heard in their dug outs again and you could clearly see in their management faces at the end of the game.nine out of the 13 players that played for hullbridge last night were under the age of 18 with the exemplary and evergreen tomlinson and hughes being the over thirty and the two goalscorers in the second half,spreadborough and gosling being 23.players like brown,cheesewright,oakley,daves,binns,steven ogilvie and morten were missing from the team.in the second half, we switched to a system that we use on the big occasions and they didn't have any answer.teams that play hullbridge these days and in the future will have to erase that word "embarassment" from their vocabulary because it's not an embarassement to lose to hullbridge anymore and replace it with the word "respect".fail to do so will only be at their own risk... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/pipe.gif" alt="" />

the fella sticking the money in at brentwood did so and put his mate witherspoon in charge. there are in fact 9 people listed as coaches etc at brentwood so the dugout is very busy.

 

at the beginningof the season it was witho and gary foley (dad of callum) and then amin was drafted in and he took lots of former aveley players with him!

 

think about brentwood and look at the potential. crowds are on the rise slowly but surely and its a massive catchment area. success will indeed bring in the punters but they have won nothing yet (except the ESL hi deadbeat <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> )

hookey,i bet they didn't write down the formation...these guys forget that we have internet these days and we can check on their web-sites <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />words like "go through them"were overheard in the changing rooms before kick off...still no bookings on our behalf(hi league chairman <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />,hi gay of gisborne)and a first class service in hospitality after the match <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
