Stortford - Advanced Traffic Warning

Bishops Stortford has a free parking day on Saturday 16th December. Previous years have resulted in traffic gridlock around the town on a free parking day. As this is the last full weekend before Christmas, it's likely to be the same again this year.

Traffic should be OK from the M11 and around the ground, as this is further out from the town centre.

If you intend to go via Hertford (A414/A10/A120), when you reach Stortford at the roundabout by Tesco's, take a left and follow signs for the M11/Stanstead. This will take you around the by-pass and you can then follow directions to the ground from the M11.

Whichever route you take, I would allow an hour for the journey. ( I do the journey everyday to work, so I know how bad / good it can be ! )

Hi Laz,

Just one thing to remember,The parking at the ground is mostly cars from the airport so it gets very crowded, you can park on the industrial estate near the ground but you would need to get there early.

I've not had a problem in the past. Most of the airport car parks surrounding it are open. I'll be there early anyway.

 

Wasn't there some discussion about not using the football club car park for the airport?

As far as I'm aware they are still using it for airport parking at the moment, Will get on the phone to Clarky and see if he fancys it as it's not that far from where we both live.

I was there last night for Enfield Town's reserve team cup game. There were hardly any car parking spaces available and only about 50 supporters were present! The car park was packed solid and guess what...? BSFC with St Albans City FC bar staff!
