i think thats crap, again we havent bothered with this cup. So why did we enter!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

As I've said in a previous post, it's crap because not enough teams enter the competition, (what is wrong with using teams from the Kent Leagues?) and there's barely any, or no, money to be awarded to those who proceed to the next rounds.

For fear of repeating myself(it must have been the pickled egg),the only reason a lot of the clubs don't bother, is there is very little financial reward for the eventual winners. If you get a sponsor that will throw serious money at the competion, you may see the league clubs that are affiliated to the KFA return, and then it will generate more interest, from clubs and supporters.

Is that not testimony to how far we have come since then though??

That's exactly it. In seasons playing Croydon and Harrow, games against Margate and Dover were big things. Now with games against Oxford and Exeter, and with other Kent teams where they are in their respective divisions, it means nothing at all.

Well spotted that man !! Re my previous post ( of long ago )...why do Charlton feature on South East at Six which, by it's own admission, is a programme for Kent & Sussex ( Charlton being SE London & not Kent !)....although if a dog farts in Brighton it gets a mention as it seems a (big) tad biased towards Sussex !!

I only watch the programme to see Kaddy....well fit !!

Cheers,

You are not alone in this Hirsty.

Myself and Andy C have both complained to Meridian about their p*** poor coverage of Fleet, preferring to linger on Brighton, Millwall. Gills Charlton and even Sarfend.

At one time even Canvey were getting better publicity.

They always blame it on transmitter area coverage. It seems Gravesend is neither London or Meridian , therefore warrants no coverage from either broadcaster.

It seems the good old Beeb have followed their lead.

The bottom line is , although were are being quietly successful, we are still considered by the media (RK excepted) as tinpot, boring and unnewsworthy.

Until we get another top draw cup run together, that will remain the same.

When we do finally get Manure at home in the 3rd round in front of a sell out at our new stadium, watch all of our "long lost" new fans and media come out of the woodwork.
