Graham Roope

Sad to read on Confguide forum that Graham Roope, the former Surrey and England cricketer,has died. He was known for his exceptional fielding and also played as a goalkeeper in senior non-league football. Some on this board will remember how his immaculate handling as an emergency replacement for Trevor Porter,together with what was probably Dave Russell's greatest goal for the Rebels, saw off a very strong Minehead side in an FA Trophy second replay at Twerton Park in season 1976/77. Supporters of both clubs would, I feel sure, willingly swap their positions today for those then.

sad news...our condolances to all his family and friends...I was remember that game ...absoulte brillant and will always be remeber by the supporters who were previlaged to see him wear a Slough Shirt...
