Getting back to the football...

First half I thought we played some very nice stuff going forward, passing the ball around well and creating chances. We didn't do enough with them though, and we missed Nathan in particular to give us more of a presence in the box. At the back we've given away a very soft goal, which I think can be chalked down to inexperience there. Heffer is a big miss, and McMahon of course when he's fit again.

If you think that we started the game without our 3 leading scorers (Elder, Hodges, Flack), our most experienced defender and our 'keeper then perhaps we shouldn't be too downhearted.

I thought the Mangos deserved their win, but I was not disappointed with our players who took part, the result yes, but not the players.

Ist half we were by far the better team, second half, the Mangos stepped it up, stopped us playing, and went long. It worked and they progress to the next round.

Just a quick word on our young three at the back,

Their big no Ten started the game matched against Swain who beat him to the ball every time, he then moved across to Blewit who also gave him nothing, so he moved across again to put himself against Kerras.

Ronnie has done a great job for us and kept us in a lot of games, Tuesday he and another of our teenagers, Whelps, were imo joint motm.

99% of goals come from errors, if no one made a mistake, most games would end 0-0....and before anyone say's it, yes, I would have settled for that yesterday...

The crowd issue seems to be affecting clubs across the board , in recent seasons Ricky would have pulled 5-600 for todays game , we are struggling to build on our hardcore support of around the 650 mark and we are going well in the league , perhaps people just dont have the money ?

Not a HX fan, but look at their last two attendances. Midweek and Flackwell Heath 88 and yesterday local trip to Witham and only 133

not OUR attendences coup (altho' perhaps you would wish them to be)...both games were away....

good try...

we murdered mangos for 30 minutes and they rode the storm (and their luck) then turned the screw....had we taken a couple of chances it would have been different and sounds the same with you guys...

I must say it would have been a hard test for you today.....but att 373, thats really pants for your major cup game of the season...

How many were 'glory' fans you accused us of having?? ...and how many did the oppo bring ?

94% of your postings mention our attendances. Why the obessesion?

Lets get a few things into perspective. Billericay have for the most part been mid-table and without the 'glory' of any cup run. Billericay has a population of just 11,679

Chelmo have this season been given a 'Conference' side courtesy of fat Jeff's wallett. This was done in a blaze of publicity. You currently stand in the top 4 of the league and are scoring freely. You've also reached the FA Cup 1st round and been exposed both locally and nationally on BBC and Sky TV. On Saturday you posted an attendance of just over 600. Chelmo has a population of 2,000,001.

On that basis, the good people of Billericay are far more supportive of thier football club than the people of Chelmo are of thiers.

Mango brought about 15/20

Don't you have to seasonally adjust that population figure when there's an "R" in the month? I'd have thought it was more like 11.09% or possibly as high as 12%.

So what your saying is that only half as many people support Chelmo as opposed to 'ricay. Wonder who the half person is?

Mango's got a home draw against Windsor & Eton or Kings Lynn in next round.

And Swifts visit Exeter. Nice.

In reply to SIMON BTFC comment I think its very unfair to maybe blame the recent dip in form down to inexperience. Ronnie Worster has done a fantastic job for us since billy got injured and we are very lucky to have him, and to be totally honest i wouldnt put billy straight back in the squad when he is fit because lets be honest ronnie doesnt deserve to be dropped just because goals are being conceded, when 99% arn't his fault. In my opinion Worster has got to be one of the most promising young goalkeepers in non league. Also rob swaine has done a very good job in defence when called upon in recent games he is also only 18. If this club is going to have a good future we need to keep hold of players like these. Also the likes of Darren Blewett and Whelps.

Westy. I'd agree with most of what you've said but I thought Simon was refering just to Saturday rather than a general comment on Ronnie & Rob (p'raps I'm wrong?). Someone on here said we'd miss an "old head" with no Heffer and I think they were proved right.

RW has been superb whilst Billy's been out, but we mustn't forget just how well Billy had been playing up 'till his injury.

It'll be great to be spoilt for choice for a change!

as Keith pointed out, their keeper never made a save all game and there is our problem not just saturday but all season. Only 8 teams have scored less goals than us. Our defensive recored is pretty good but an outsider looking in would think we would be a cautious side on paper but the reality is we have dominated so many games but have not got the ability to kill teams off. I think Ronnie has done fine in goal, he needs to be more vocal at times but his shot stopping has kept us in games. As for Swaine, not his biggest fan, he could do with more games so prehaps a loan would do him good, bad side to that is we are very thin in reserve for defenders.

I think our position in the league is consistant with our performances this season. We are as close to the playoff places as we are to the relegation places and at times this season we have looked superb and at times (slough) we have looked poor.
