Players who can move onto the Professional or higher ranks from the SSML. We had Jay Demerit who played at Northwood a few seasons ago now plying his trade at Watford.

As a Watford fan, also involved in local football, I find the ex Northwood tag attributed to Jay DeMerit quite amusing. As I believe his sum total of involvement at Northwood was teo weeks pre season training and one appearance against Watford in a friendly, who promptly signed him. A better example would be Scott Fitzgerald, who was a Northwood Regular and who signed for Watford and ended up top scorer in his one full season there. Sadly dropping back down the leagues though.

I think there are a number of players in the game at step 5 who have the ability to play professionally, but they lack the mental strengh and discipline to make it.

Agreed on the mental strength and discipline to make it. Disagree on Jay Demerit he was there for at least 5 weeks of pre season training and yes he was signed up by Watford after the 4-0 defeat in pre-season. Nevertheless he is an example to all players at this level albeit he expected to go professional it was his main reason to come from the USA to England.

The point about Demerit is he never played competively for Northwood, so can't reaslly be counted. The most recent Ruislip Manor player to play professionaly was Steve Dell who made a few appearances for Wycombe before drifting back down the leagues. More succesful was/is Warren Goodhind who left Manor for Barnet where Spurs were sniffing around him, but he broke his leg and went to Cambridge Utd instead, not sure what he's doing now though.

Not playing at an higher level but officiating, Pat Miller went into refereeing after an injury stopped him playing at 61 FC, and he has now progressed to the Football League.

Think he is at Rochdale now.
