With the visitors third in the EIL they proved to be a good attraction and made an excellent contribution to a match played in great spirit.

Galleywood kicked off and totally against the run of play Vincent played the ball up to Parker and then through to DAVE SADLER who swept forward and cracked the ball home wide of the diving Reader after 25 seconds, with the bulk of the crowd still outside the ground. It was two nil after three minutes when Foyewa made ground on the right, crossed into the middle, and DAVE COLLINS powerfully hooked the ball home. Galleywood almost pulled one back with a good shot on the turn by Barbara, and then a long penetrating run along the right was followed by a low hard cross into the middle, where Billy Crowther just failed to clear after STEVE BARBARA had got a touch to the ball.

Gasper went close with a diving header after Fletcher had sent Foyewa away,a nd then a power drive from a free kick by Gasper brought the save of the match from Reader. Collins shot narrowly wide from a Gasper cross and the third goal came after a Gasper shot was parried and ADAM PARKER followed up to put the ball home.

DAVE SADLER made it four when he homed onto a mishit back pass and ran the ball past Reader, and then Adam Parker and DAVE COLLINS both went for a loose ball on the edge of the area, with the white booted Collins just getting there first to hammer the ball home. Whincup saved from Lee Watson and then Vincent tackled when Tait almost got through, but the sixth goal followed when AINSLEY GASPER made a solo run through the middle and stoked the ball home.

Max playing MOR guitar music over the tannoy at half time – the Shadows, the Dakotas, and so on – ‘I really appreciate good guitar music’ said Max. So did the majority of the crowd, and they rushed to the relative safety of the bar, out of tannoy range. Three minutes into the second half and AINSLEY GASPER scored with a well taken low drive from the edge of the area, but the visitors came back and scored an excellent goal when JOHN WATSON glanced in a great header from a right wing cross. Several of the youth team came on to gain some useful experience and Stanley went close, before JOHN HEFFORD finished off the scoring with a well taken opportunist shot from a packed penalty area. There was still time for Alex Ievoli to crash in a shot against the bar, before the final whistle went.
