If there are some of you out there in Fleetland whom are not attending Northwich on Saturday, then can I draw your attention to an alternative.

 

Saturday at Camden Barfly sees the debut single launch party of not 1 but 2 of the best young bands around, and both are from Kent.

 

Its 2pm - 6pm , for those readers of the NME, Underground Heroes and Out with Mummy will be plenty familiar to you. There are other 1965records artists playing as well over the course of the afternoon.

 

Get there early as OWM are on first and UH are on at 5.

 

Its a fiver to get in, and should be great value. Failing that its an opportunity for a decent drink, see a gig , stagger out and then still have time to go and see some other bands.

 

 

There will be plenty of Fleet in the crowds , and texts detailing the action as it happens from oop North will be readily available.

I've looked on BBC Weather, gales should be easing going into Saturday, so we should be alright!

 

But Ian, I'll doubt they would be able to kick the ball from one side of the pitch to the other in 60mph winds! They'll take a goal kick and then they would have to save it again! (lol)

i played a medway sunday league cup game about 5 years ago against (as they were then seeboard) in 60mph+ gales. It went to extra time 0-0 and descended into a farce pretty quickly. no exaggeration but one half of extra tim,e was spent camped out in the penalty area, as it became impossible to get it in the other half at all. it was like running on porridge and the ball would not move. the second half was fun though. shots swerving about like a roberto carlos special. finished 0-0 and we lost on penalties. i swear there is still one of those penalty kicks that has not come down yet..........watch your heads it must be due down soon!!!!

Ever played at Thong Lane when it was windy ? I know it's windy up there all the time....but once when we ( Fleetway ) took a goal kick, the wind blew it back over for a corner. I knew then that it was time for the bar !! Regretfully I had to carry on for a further farcical 30 minutes or so !! Can't remember getting over the halfway line after that ( not that we would have done anyway !). Although in a previous game there, under similar conditions, the same bloke hit a strong clearance & scored from about 65 yards !! It's a game of two halves Brian !
