i think that the recorder has much more information and covers nearly every single senior game in their local area.the echo coverage of the local non-league football is simply "poor"whichever way you look at it.even the ryman and conference cover is not up to scratch.for example,no team sheets are included,referees,attendances(very rarely).i know we played a meaningless east anglian cup vs basildon winning 2-0( <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />) but there is no mention of it wednesday or the tuesday.is it down to lack of staff or just they are not as organized as the other newspapers?i would like to know it...Dick or chris are you there? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Why don't you drop Dick Marshall an email (dick.marshall@nqe.com) and raise the issue with him.

 

Ask him if clubs send in their own reports, news, updates etc, would they be printed (after editing of course).

Coachie...... yes I agree. Even if they dedicated one day a week to a much bigger round up... that would be a start.

As your know I have dual nationality... I live in Echoland but support a team from my roots in Recorderland. Overall the Recorder is better and the Echo should have an advantage because it has five days a week to populate the sports pages. When Romford first came back in the ESL I was doing the marketing role for them. I emailed the Echo to say that if they wanted any info from or for Romford games involving Echo sides, I would quite happily provide it... Alas no one ever got back to me.

Another funny story I once heard about a certian Echo reporter goes as follows: Southend were away in midweek to a team from up north, anyway Southend loose and the Echo match reporter tears them to shreads in his report. It then transpires that at the exact time the game was taking place (we are talking before sky etc)the said reporter was seen taking his dog for a walk in Canewdon.... I suppose being Canewdon it could have been just his spirit?

Anyway Coachie by talking about the Echo you have reminded me that I still need to send my "angry of Hockley" letter to them.

See you have starting talking about poor paper coverage so I have got you mind thinking marketing haven't I!

i know dick marshall and chris phillips very well(chris was even a whitecaps junior player)mine wasn't a critics. just a fact!i don't know how they work about their round up of local senior football but they give me the impression that they can't be bothered about or that they haven't got a clue how to go about it <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

and now that we are discussing this...BBC ESSEX and other local radios should start doing more live radio commentaries about non-league football.don't forget we are in the year 2006!just to tell you..i can listen online every sunday morning live commentaries from non league football at ryman or esl level in the rome region <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bigshock.gif" alt="" />it's quality lads! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />i phone some of my old mates knowning the results even before them! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/arcadefreak.gif" alt="" />wake up lads and spread the gospel <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/top.gif" alt="" />
