This May be a moan, but i feel this needs to be said... I was standing in the main stand yesterday night watching the redbridge game and I cant understand why our players need to practice shooting hitting the ball very hard, most of the time missing the goal and hitting the crowd...How long is it going to be until someone gets hurt..The club is supposed to be a family friendly club but at half time it is becoming unsafe to stand on the stand...I have been to many other grounds but this only seems to happen at canvey...I feel our players need to be doing a more structured warm up not just a kick about...Also with winter on its way how long is it going to it starts tearing up the goal mouth. Shooting practice sould be on training nights..

Sorry, but the risk of standing behind the goal is obvious.

If strikers haven't trained for several days aiming at the goal, there's a pretty big chance it wont really go to plan when attempting to score.

You may aswell moan at the players who miss the target during the actual match while you're at it.

I think that shooting practice is a good idea it is good for the keeper and the striker it gets them focused on the game. But i do think that is should be more structured and almost set up a mini match get people to close down the strikers and make it more realistic. They always seem to relaxed.

You`re not the first person i`ve heard complain about this, it`s not a proper warm-up because normally it`s an outfield player in goal with the rest of the subs (including our sub keeper) firing in shots from all angles. It`s a bit of fun between the players but i must admit i`ve seen a few people almost get hit.

There`s always a chance of being hit when inside the ground (or outside if that Redbridge player is taking free-kicks <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />) but obviously the risk increases if you stand near the goals. Best bet is to speak to an offical at the club but they will never be able to guarantee you won`t be hit by friendly fire.

THEY HAVE ALL WEEK TO HAVE A KICK ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS NOT A WARM UP. IT SEEMS TO BE A LAUGH WITH NO SRUCTURE...IN MARCH WE WILL BE MOANING ABOUT THE STATE OF THE PITCH...YOU NEVER SEE THE AWAY SIDES HAVING A KICK ABOUT BOOTING THE BALL IN THE CROWD, IF THAT HAPPENED PEOPLE WOULD MOAN..

they are not proffessionals, they don't play every day!!!

being hit is part of the risk, if you dont want to take that risk move somewhere else. someoene actualy being hit and hurt by a football is very rare, i can only remeber a few in the last 5 years and all of those were during actual play (statistics only from memory and cant be taken as fact)

I can understand both sides of the arguement.

You do run the risk of being hit by a ball when standing behind the goal area. However, I feel your more likely to be hit at half time. I presume people know the risks when standing there at half time but I have also seen people nearly get hit when walking from one side of the terrace to the other which is just behind the hording.

I think they need to do the practice but it certainly needs to be more organised and not a free for all. Goalkeeper in the goal shot stopping and practicing catches etc from corners and the like. Cross bar challenges etc. are more likely to have the ball fly over and hit someone than players trying to get the ball on target.

I don't think you'll stop it however.

I remember before we had the north bank, there was that high-wire fence to stop balls.......but this particular day Ash Harrison was between the sticks for the half time shoot out; while at the same time his ma & pa patiently waiting in the refrsehments queue......they'd just been served and started walking away, when 'wallop' Ash missed a pwerful shot on goal, and his dad took the ball at full pelt square in the moosh, spilling his chips n coffee.

.....thats why they should continue to wrap the chips in paper, I mean, what a waste !
