Good or a bad thing, i think good!

Goal line debates
Penalties
Even offsides but i dont know how they'd work that one.

This could be a decent thread.

I disagree with any. I remember it being brought in for cricket. Only for run outs and stumpings they said. And now it is there for anything and everything. Will ruin football as we know it.

Just for goal line decisions I think.

But how PB. Invariably the ball is still in play. Do you stop a team who now have the ball and want to attack to see and then find out it didn't.

They do it as in rugby where the 4th official is watching screen, there must be some kind of technology that would allow him to see instantly whether a ball has crossed the line, he presses his little buzzer thing ref gives a goal.

Difference in Rugby is that the ball is dead when that happens. Ref goes to fourth official and then waits while he looks at the replays. In football it isn't dead and you are stopping the game.

You wouldnt need to stop the game though, if 4th official or similar has 2 screens in front of him, one for each goal and its some way fitted with a device that immediately signals if ball crosses the line then the official buzzes the ref, he gives a goal. Job done.

Possible. The buzzer thing is an idea but as with all technology it can be tempremental. Take it at Wimbledon. It always gets turned off at some point because it isn't working properly. You could let the game continue until the 4th official is sure and then he buzzes the ref and says it is a goal. Sometimes though it can take a couple of minutes to be certain and would you want the game stopped and taken back. And what happens if someone has scored in those couple of minutes. Chalk it off ?

I think it should be used but, sparingly like you've got three appeals each game or one each half and if you get one wrong you lose it or if it's right you keep it something needs to be done i think, don't think it'll ruin the flow with players surrounding refs after pens, and players having to come off the pitch when injured to come back on thats a so called dispruption also!

Fair call Wembers. Can you honestly see the top managers agreeing to 3 and then not pushing for more after a few months. Also it will be used as a time wasting tactic towards the end of the game as well.

Stop the watch then kroons simple, things should be open to debate, i feel if the amount of appeals per game doesn't seem to be working then it should be up for review dont you think?

Then the game goes on longer and longer. Ever told the ref to hurry a team up and when he says he has stopped the watch you say but it has broken up the play ref.

Don't know where your coming from on that one Kroons, but i think it's a valuable tool worth using, like when when we had a ball over the line against ash which would of made it 1-1<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
