Maidenhead 0-2 Stafford - Match Photos

Check the Maidenhead forum. There was one person arrested and all the Chasbo's came out in force to try and bait the Stafford supporters rather than watch the match.

Sadly, the police were called in and had to attend and the segregation gap between the two sets of supporters increased drastically. I would like to point out though, that it was nothing to do with the regular Maidenhead support, the majority of whom stayed at the far end.

As for the game itself, it was pretty flat atmospherically and try as they might, Maidenhead didn't really get a sniff. Clear penalty which O'Connor should have done better with, and I thought they had a better shout for one in the second half which wasn't given. The best team on the night definitely won, but I gather there were a more issues as the match finished from what I've read, but we'd made an early exit.

Superb crowd for a Tuesday night with Champions League footie on the telly so fair play to them, and I'm sure they will have learnt a few lessons from tonight from the crowd perspective.

I went to this game and could not believe the "atmosphere". I havent been in the prescence of so many people intent on causing trouble for twenty years. Its certainly never been like that at any Slough game I've been to. Also so many kids under the influence, and not just of alcohol!

Although it was a excellent attendance there did seem to be a lot of first-class A-holes there, making stupid comments and looking to cause trouble.

Not that any of them were proper Maidenhead fans - they are always a good bunch. You knew who the genuine Maidenhead fans were, and just a shame about the A-Holes. Hope it did not ruin the evening for the genuine fans.

As for the game Maidenhead lacked any width. They desperately missed Dwaine Clark on the left (although he never seems to pass!) and had Ashley Smith who was right footed playing there. Also playing Newman & O'Connor without a tall striker did not seem to work, but Hughes was cup-tied so I guess it was their only option. Saying that did not see why Adrian Allen did not get a longer run out.
