BEST TEAM In the divison, I rest my case

Mine was a factual statement.

It's also a fact that, in each of the last 5 seasons, the team with the best GD have finished as Champions, not necessarily the team conceding least goals!

Is tht the SSML Prem you are talking about?

I would think the team with the most points would not nesseceraily be the team with the best GD at the end of the season.

At the moment, Gav. Had this argument with Rhodes regarding Kentish Town earlier in the season and he's starting to realise his foolishness now.

..
That was more to get Horace going, but I think we have the best team in the league.

Hi Oners! Didn't feel too well and anyway wasn't free until about 7pm. I'm ashamed to say that the lure of the Gunners on the telly and the cold night won!

Good win, still in 5 cups!

It was a bit chilly so you were def better off
with ya feet up!...good win...made even better by leo's return to fittness and a solid 45 from the gaffer

Thanks for signing the guestbook on my forum. What did you think of the blog site and forum Paula?. I was meaning to ask you, you know you said you have a drum that you take to canvey games (do you still take it to every match?)

What kind of drum is it, and where is the best place to get one and what kind of price ?

I looked on ebay, and I think it's a snare drum, but some are very pricy, running into a couple of hundred, what do you suggest?

What cups are they?

We are still in four, the Vase, both SSML cups and the Middx Senior cup,

What odds that Edgware play you in one of the SSML cups, can we meet you in the final?

SSMFL Premier Divison Cup, Challenge Trophy, Herts Senior Cup, East Anglian Cup and South midlands Floodlight Cup. Nothing as prestigious as the Vase though! You really are outdoing us in all departments, eh Gav?

We have 6 snare drums and one big boy of a base drum. 'My' drum actually belongs to the club but was purchased on ebay although others came from our local newspapers and a couple were donated.

We take at least 3 drums to the away games (people dont like us - we dont care). If it is a 'special' game ie Hornchurch or someone like that then all the drums will come along.

Makes for a great atmosphere and helps the 'choir'.

You will find me playing mine when i've had a few bevvies but the lads dont need the dutch courage like me!!

Go for it Gavin - wind Horace up a bit more!!

Leave the airhorns at home though - they are banned from many grounds (including ours)

It's funny that you are in the East Anglian cup, that must be a wide catchment area to compete in that trophy? who are the holders? do you get a lot of the clubs in the Eastern Counties league taking part, their must be some stong sides in that. Have you ever played Norwich city, and are Ispwich Town in it?

The south midlands floodlit cup, I think I asked this before but never got an answer, is that for the reserve sides? as I know Hertford play their reserves in the SSML reserve league.

Herts senior trophy would be the same as our Middx senior cup I guess.

Were you being funny or genunie when you said " Nothing as prestigious as the Vase though! You really are outdoing us in all departments, eh Gav? "

Thanks for that, as I thought snare drums, do you have any pics of the drums?

Air horns are ok, but they run out too quickly, and like you said some grounds have banned them, though I have not had any problem when I have used mine. A drum would be a lot better and last a lot longer.

I think I may have to search about on ebay and find one, maybe an old one, as I dont need a brand new one, for music, just something that can make a loud noise LOL !!!

You guys must make some serious noise with all those drums excllent

Obviously I was tongue in cheek and yes I did win it 3 times in 4 years. It's a first team cup but if I'm right step 5 is the highest level that plays in it. I'm not sure what the entry qualification is.. apart from floodlights I presume?

ooh, you are so demanding! We have always entered the East Anglian Cup - before we entered the Ryman we had a couple of seasons in the Eastern Counties League, in the 70s - perhaps it dates from then. We once did play Norwich City, but that was a long time ago. The League sides dont enter any more. The South Midlands Floodlight Cup is for First Teams and open to other Leagues as well. The Herts Senior Cup is for the top sides in Herts and includes Watford and Barnet.
I was being "ironic" with my last quote, although of course we really do wish we were still in the Vase!

One of Hillingdon's four second placed finishes in ten days last season!
