Kings Lynn question...

Recommended Posts

How come that Kings Lynn have a reserve side who play at such a high level? Their ressies are in the Eastern counties league prem which is step 5, whereas thier first team are in the Southern Prem at 3.

I never knew you were allowed to have a reserve side who were at semi pro level. What would happend if they were to win promotion to the same league, would they have to decline? what would happen if they both were drawn against eachother in cup compititon?

I know in Spain that several clubs have their B teams in the second and thrid divisons. I follow Malaga in Spain, and they had thier second team in the second divison last season. On Malaga's relegation from the Primera the reserve side had to drop down as well, so as to not be int he same divison.

It just seems odd that a non league club should have a second side at high level as in Kings Lynn case

Do they?, I never knew that. Are there many of teams who field a second side at semi pro level?

I just find it odd, that a non league side can field another non league side a high level of the game.

After all, the Suburban league that Edgware are in is not at a step in the non league pyrmaid, I think its just a reserve league, if you get my meaning.

I just thought it was Spain, (maybe some other countries) that are allowed to do this.

How come then that no pro sides have ever decieded to field thier second side as a non league team?

Gav, dont think the ressies can enter the FA competitions, also dont think they would be allowed any higher than Level 5 from what i remember.

...
Thanks for that info, that would make more sense, a lot more actually. In Span clubs can reach the second division, but as in the case of Malaga who I follow in Spain, they get relegated, then so the second team as they cant play eachother for obvious reasons

Paula, your ressies are in the Essex & Herts not the Essex Senior (as they were last season).

How right you are lol. Got ESL on the mind for some reason. Just don't like the word Herts (i'm an Essex girl through and through see)
Our ressies won the league last year if I remember rightly.
Am I right blind 1

They're called CRC now.

And are now connected to Cambridge United, not Cambridge City.

Histon are another team with reserves in the ECL. Their reserves played in Div 1 until the first team were promoted from the Prem Div to Southern League a couple of years back.

Plans are afoot at the FA to prevent reserve sides from playing in the Pyramid within the next couple of years though.

Who beat who 6-0?

I think its fair enough to stop clubs playing a reserve side at non league pyrmiad level. There place could be taken by a sole club who want to progress, rather then a clubs second string.

I did once see Barcalona B play Marbella at Marbella <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Paula - yes they won both the league and cup! Excellent team. Only one team that could compete with them and that was Leyton.

I believe they are going to stop reserves playing first teams as it stops teams progressing upwards?

However, I dont know how they are going to stop it? CRC is officially a first team that ground share with Cambridge Utd! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Even though they make it very clear on their website and in the match programme that they are Cambridge United Reserves playing under that name! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />
