The first time I ever went to Wembley Stadium was for the FA Trophy Final in 1979, Stafford Rangers v Kettering Town, I met a family on the way to the game who were from Kettering, and I stood with them, still remember it. Kettering lost 2-0, I was 12

I had a soft spot for Kettering for years after that, dont anymore though LOL

I also went to the Bishops Stortford v Sutton utd final in 81, Runcorn v Wycombe, Woking v Daggers ((I was in the Daggers end, wanted them to win, even though they were west ham LOL)

I think thats its for me for Trophy Finals, as I said, never been to a Vase final, would like to change that this season

Looks like the crowds have dropped badly like the Vase, since the move from Wembley.

Ther was an idea mooted that both finals should be played on the same day, what do you think about that? Having a 'double header' would make the crowd bigger, and it could be a real 'non league day out' and fan / family friendly, with both games at Wembley. The Vase could be played first, say at 3.00, with the Trophy kicking off at say 6.00, not a bad idea, what do you think?

Interesting to see that both Canvey and Kingstonian are now step 4 teams, after enjoying remarkable success, specially in the case of Canvey. Seems like the reached their peak, then it was downhill, as the club lost money, or the money men, and are now paying for it somewhat.

Grays, not really a big name of the non league game or the old amatuer game are enjoying a great spell of success currently both in the league and cup. I remember then being an average side in the Ryman premier, I wonder if their success will continue?

Also interesting to see that teams like Colchester came down, won the conf and the Trophy and have progressed futher and futher after losing their league status. Colchester are now enjoying their best season in their history league wise.

First time I went was to see Man City beat Leicester City in 1969. I was only a baby.

First England game I saw was England v Bulgaria I think it was 1979 also, Glenn Hoddle scored a great volley goal.

How come you got tickets to Man city v Leicester HTFCEW? were your family fans of one of the teams, or were you just lucky to get tickets?

Do you remember the game or were you too young?

I was born in Manchester (about 5 miles from Old Trafford) so have naturally always supported City. Although we lived in Fleetwood at the time, my Dad worked in Manchester and got the tickets through contacts there.

I had an amazing memory even at such a young age , and clearly remember Neil Young on the left wing, just in front of where we were, getting the only goal of the game.

I cheered on City when I got tickets for the FA Cup final replay v spurs in 81. Everyone in my school was a spurs fan, but I had city scarf that I brought just for the final (glory hunter LOL) and I managed to get tickets, after queuing for them the day after the final.

HTFCew - I was at that 1969 final too in the Leicester end, my dad had got a couple if tickets from somewhere. I think that started my interest in City and the Lee, Bell, Summerbee era, I always preferred them to United, did you ever get to know Annie with the bell who was always behind the goal at Maine Road.

I've never been to Maine Road. I was very young when we left Manchester for Fleetwood. I did used to go and watch Blackpool when they were in the old first division - when I could I got a lift, or I went by tram. They alternated home games with Fleetwood ( I could walk to their ground), so I tried to go to a game every week.

The people I remember at City of the top of my head apart from those already mentioned are Tony Book, Alan Oakes, Tony Coleman (who later went to Blackpool), and of course Joe Mercer & Malcolm Allison.

Bert Trautmann joined City from Fleetwood - that was before my time though!
