What time is the FA Vase draw?

Recommended Posts

On looking at the list it's just us (Edgware) away to Halstead, WGC a to St Neots or Lowerstoft, and a potential all SSML tie, Leverstock Green v Ruislip Manor or Potton Utd

(come on Manor)

#edit. and Chalfont and oxhey jets if they beat Romford

Can you imagine, Leverstock v Edgware in the 4th round oh that would be such an anti climax, and we would prob lose ( then again, it would be good chance to make the last 8. I would want to avoid another SSML club now.

On paper, if Brentwood or Hertrford were still in the Vase, they would be both tough games, the fact we have kocked them both out already, is a good sign for us.

Did I mention we have scored 3 goal in every round so far and only conceded 1 in our 4 vase games

Hertford Town 3-0
Long Buckby 3-0
Brentwood Town 3-0
Saffron Walden 3-0

Ok Horace, if we get there would you come and watch, it could be at Wembley, thats the rumour. I will go no matter who is in the final, if its at Wembley

So will I - should be room in there, even if it's FC United of Manchester you play!

Oh that would be a good one the rumours are that Wembley needs to have its saftey certificate and needs two smaller events at the Stadium before it can hold the FA cup final.

If the FA have any sense, they will stage the Vase and the Trophy finals there. It would be good as it would be a good chance to look around and check the stadium out wtih a small crowd there.

If we dont get there, then FC united of Manchester v Truro city would be an excellent Vase final, and I would expect a crowd 4 or 5 times the size of previous Vase finals, due to it being at Wembley. Those two clubs would also have have very very large support if they made the final.

Sadly replay was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Rearranged date to be advised.

I was a bit put out by your leverstock v Edgware in Round 4 comment Gav. We could beat both Potton and them and then you for a glorious hat trick.

Gavin, I nicked this from the ESL forum. You'd better hope you don't get this ref in the next round!

After our dismal defeat on Saturday I was left wondering how on earth some people get to referee football. We didn't seem up for the game and although the score flattered Halstead some what and we played some decent football in patches we didn't really deserve to win the game.

But with 15mins or so to go I really felt like telling our players to walk off the pitch and leave the officials to be centre stage. We lost and thats that but where the FA found the officials from on Saturday is beyond me. When you go away to teams in different leagues in Cup competitons you expect some bias towards the home side but to do what the officials done on Saturday is nothing short of cheating.

You know you are in for a tough time when the referee goes up to several of their players before the game and chats to them and asks them how their injuries are, how they have been playing etc etc. But you just get on with it. During the game he gives Halstead a freekick on the edge of the box that was a very good tackle from which they score. He then fails to give us two blatant penalties from successive corners that even the Halstead players and bench said were penalites. The ref then fails to book one of their players for a terrible tackle resulting in our player being subbed. To go through every decision would take an hour but the Halstead players told us that they have never seen such a one-sided ref and the Halstead bench said he was the worse ref they had seen this year and this is after they had won 5-0.

In the second half the ref totally lost the plot and started to book our players for anything and blew up every time we made a tackle. I spoke to several Halstead fans and also a few neutral ones and they were stood there in disbelief in what one described as... 'the worse refereeing performance he had ever seen'. After we questioned the linesman about one or two dubious off-sides he then proceeded to not give blatant off sides from which Halstead scored their last 2 goals. The ref also blew up every time we took a corner for an alleged offence against the keeper.

For the people who use this forum and are referees or linesman...Krooner and The Mounite..could you define the laws of the game for me. Can you be booked for asking the ref without shouting and swearing why someone was booked and also can you be booked or sent from the dug out for saying to the ref that you think his performance is terrible? Again without shouting or swearing.

My final comment and its something that summed up the afternoon. When we asked the ref why he was so bias and why he knew all their players by their first name he said he had looked at the team sheet beforehand. When we questioned him further he said that he looked at the Halstead website on a regular basis and knew some of their players!

At the end of the day if we had played to our ability we should have won this game. Make of it what you will and you may say its because we lost that we are so annoyed but on Saturday I truly felt like jacking it all in because of what I can honestly say was the worse refeeing performance I have ever seen. I would like to say good luck to Halstead in the next round and that they are a very nice club, made us welcome and were very honest in their opinions of the officials.

By the way, believe it or not I never got sent from the dug out!

Sorry about that Lato, that was actually written when I had forgotten that Ruislip were in the draw, doh!!!

As you rightly say you could beat Leverstock away, no reason why you cant'[ I think you would have a good chance.

How about an all SSML final at Wembley

Edgware v the Manor

Nice thought..they'd have to lock the gates on it though such would be the demand for tickets......not!!

Regarding you tie, I saw halstead lose that replay at Harefield. Didn't think they had a lot about them. Not bad going forward but a bit ponderous at the back especially one lump of a centre half. However you never know in cup football!
