use many 1st teamers when they haven't had a game to get them match fit.

...
I am supprised I never know of this before, surely thats unfair for the other clubs in the Eastern counties, as they could find themselves up against players who are 2 levels higher.

Any idea how long Kings Lynn have run their reserve side as a semi pro club?

Many years ago Gavin, I was involved with my home town team Heanor Town who played in the Midland Counties League. Last game of the season, on a Tuesday, they needed a win at Grimsby Town Reserves to be champions, and Grimsby fielded their first team, and we only got a draw! Ba*t*rds!
At least that can't happen now!

Oh! see this opens a whole new world LOL, I just never knew that non league clubs played thier second teams in such a high level of football. I only saw by looking at the league table because of Halstead Town, and wondering why Kings Lynn who are having an excllent season, had a 2nd side at step 5 in a good divison.

It just seems odd, but then again so does the situation in Spain where you can have Real Madrid's 2nd team winning the Spanish cup as they did in the 80's they went on to play west ham in the cup winners cup, behind closed doors if I remember rightly.

Does anyone have the time and inclination to do a full break down, on how many leagues have clubs left in the Vase?

I know it would be a big job, maybe Rhodes would like to oblige or how about it Horace

Looking at that list, of 62 games, if Edgware can get past Halstead, and then make the last 32, that is only 16 games. Then if we can reach the 5th round it would equal the clubs record set in 1991, the last 16, last 8 games.

Personally I would like to see us reach the 5th round and equal the clubs record, then of course I would want to beat it and reach the 6th round.

The league is the most important thing, but a run in the Vase would be amazing. I keep thinking though, if Hillingdon Boro did it then Edgware have just as much chance, its down to the luck of the draws as well.

I think we have been handed an easier draw then what we could have received.

No step 7, a few step 6 - South Shields, Fakenham, Sherbourne, Truro - tell you the SSML teams left on Thursday after the replays.

Watch out for Truro. They did for St Blazey on Saturday and that is no mean feat.

Truro are the team I want and dont want. Want because they have great support since they have had this new owner pumping money into the club, and dont want because they are doing very well.

That said, they are still a step 6 club, and St Blazey are a step 7 club, so in all fairness its not that much of a supprise.

To play them at home would bring lots of extra cash as though its a long long journey they would bring a lot of fans. That said, I would not mind to play them away in front of what would be a huge crowd of at least 1000 in the later rounds, and a nice weekend away in Cornwall.

Lots of Northen league teams left, a trip to Newcastle or somewhere could be very interesting.

I just want to beat Halstead then draw someone a long way away, or get a big team at home, someonel like FC United would do <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Gav ignore this Step 6 or 7 nonsense for clubs on the outer limbs of this country. St Blazey would easily hold their own in a Step 3 league around here. And some of the northern sides are best avoided.
