Bashley Game

If there's one thing I've learned about non-league football over the years it's that the answer is not usually a simple yes or no to most questions!

As for the Bashley game I think most people's views have some validity as it was two bad decisions by the ref, a bad bounce for the winner, poor defending for the winner, chances we missed and, as you said, being out-muscled [not sure about out-thought though!]. In other words it wasn't just one thing that you can put right in the next training session but a culmination of several things. I can't quite figure Bashley out though, they don't look anything special but the league table doesn't lie, perhaps they're just quietly efficient at what they do without any individuals standing out!

As far as tomorrow goes I've just checked the latest forecasts and it seems we're not getting the rain now [maybe a little bit around midnight] but strong winds are forecast which may well help dry things out a bit. If the forecast is wrong [and they often are] you can rest assured that an inspection [if needed] will take place fairly early tomorrow morning and notification will be put on the answerphone and message board asap.

You're right, Bashley will have a blip some time and we obviously hope it won't be soon. You can't always win games by free-flowing football, particularly if the pitch is heavy. But I assure you they've played some great stuff this season and haven't conceded the number of goals that W & E have - probably the only difference between the sides. Out of the total goals conceded, 5 were put past them by Chesham in 45 minutes!

W&E are having a great season, and Simon has assembled a very good squad, possibly exceptional at this level - and yes we are scoring goals, but when we come up against organised teams like Bashley we find it harder and that is the nature of football. we had plenty of chances against bashley and didn't take them (yes I know we took one - hammerman!!) Bashley did.

They didn't look exceptionally good against us because we did't let them - similarly Hampton, Clevedon & Cinderford who all thought we were "ordinary" truth is it might have just been that we didn't allow them to play which would make them appear to play badly to their own fans.

Bashly are undoubtably a good side, and any half decent side will do well in this division as there is SO MUCH CR*P in it.

I predict the top 4 sides come the end of the season will be

Windsor

Bashley

Taunton

Didcot

hopefully in that order !!!!!
