It's called supporting your club...

I think he means your persistence in actually thinking you can get an away coach together having canx a few previous due to a lack of away support.....not your commitment to the club or your individual support!!!!!.......

I do believe that just the one coach has been cancelled. Unfortunately unlike yourselves, our coaches aren't subsidised.

Yep, our support is at least "honest" and doesn't require the bribe of free travel to get to the away games...

..and you do not think we would have taken a large number of people away regardless of the free travel?....one has to ask why no one will lay free travel for Riccay?.....but of course I wont .

"honest"

We are dishonest because we have a bigger support? ....you can do better then that?

The subject of Coach travel and away support is an interesting one.

Our away support is not that bad, with a hard core averaging 60ish travelling to the further away games.

But if we break this down it looks to me, to be split into two groups 50/50ish,this would be around 30 blue army and 30 touchline supporters.

Of these, there will always be ten or so from each group who will not be able to make the coach for one reason or another.

So we are left with 20 from each group who would be available to travel by coach, the touchliners are, on the whole, an age group or two above the Blue army, and as such are not interested in the benefit of being able to have a beer or two pre, during and post match.

And that's why, IMO that we have the usual 20 takers for a coach and not many more.

Whats the answer...i don't know... but if I can work out a solution I might just start up a coach company.

It would be good if we could integrate the two sets and travel with a coach to away games. But unlikely. Or even better, take a further 10/15 blue army on the coach.

It always looks better to turn up in one large group and a coach is the ideal way to do this.

Well, if people don't mind listen to Take That over the next couple of away trips, I'll coach it

Seriously, we come down to availability and success. Availability has been touched on by TC...success is really the subject of all supporters of all clubs. If your team is riding high in whatever league, good cup run, big game, whatever, the more available support there is for a coach or more. This could be measured, against the historical support of the club as well as well as distance. I'm sure we wouldn't (or any club for that fact) run a coach to East Thurrock...

...or would we?

I don't think success has anything to do with the week in, week out away supporter.

2 seasons ago, we had the best season the club has had. Fa cup 1st round, a great Trophy run and pushing for automatic promotion.

Did Andy Turner have any more success...I dont think so.

Blaming the team is to easy, individuals make a choice as to whether they travel away or not, they also chose to their mode of transport.

I wasn't knocking anybody, I just made an observation, and to re-cap, our away support is pretty good compared to the majority at our level, we just don't have that many who like to travel by coach.

My personal opinion is it would look better if we turn up on mass and on a coach. Its not a club rule...now there's a thought....

Not a great user of the coach myself as prefer the car. However have used it to a few less desireable locations such as Carshalton. Absolutely no real parking and a bitch to get too.

However, if you can get the coach as full as possible, you then find a comaraderie between young and old and it becomes a social club which everyone enjoys and it then becomes a must 'see you on the coach' date. Thats how Chelmsford have done it and a coach always leaves and it promotes 'fellowship' and a fan base. They run small raffles, comps re goals etc and the time passes really quickly.

Regardless of the venue the coach then becomes a must and have to fight (book) for a seat when you do not want to take the car.

Its also great to see the younger fans interact with the older fan on the coach. Just a thought.

Also the more that travel on a coach the cheaper it becomes. You also get to experience the coach fun and games! Quite often worth the entrance fee alone

I would completely concur with that statement Keith
